Virginia Beach hotels - 3 choices

I'm planning a trip w/a couple of friends to Virginia Beach in June 2004. Have been doing some research on oceanfront hotels and might be choosing between these 3:

Breakers Resort Hotel (approx. $140/night)
Comfort Inn Oceanfront ($194)
Quality Inn & Suites, Oceanfront ($160)

Does anyone have comments on their stays at any of these? Any advice on which is the best choice? The Comfort Inn seems a little pricey for that chain...
Thanks.

The hotels in VAB seem to change their affiliations so often that I would suggest you list the addresses of each of those ... or at least the two ChoiceHotels that you list.

Sure, here are the locations:

Breakers Resort is 1503 Atlantic Ave. (16th Street)

Comfort Inn Oceanfront is 2015 Atlantic Ave. (20th/21st Streets)

Quality Inn is 8th St. & Atlantic Ave.

I have stayed at the Comfort Inn/suites Oceanfront numerous times. It used to be much more reasonably priced. At that time it was my favorite budget get-away spot. The rate went up after major renovations due to hurricane damage. I haven't stayed there since. I can't imagine what changes they could have made to make it worth the new price. But, it was a good central location. The free breakfast in a glass walled breakfast room was a real bonus.

I don't know how the prices compare at the season you will be traveling, but, off-season the Four Sails is a great place to stay. The suites are also oceanfront. I especially enjoyed the larger balconies there.

after some more research, we decided on the Sandcastle Oceanfront hotel. It was $129/night and it got okay reviews on tripadvisor.com...hopefully it's decent.

Thanks for all of the advice.

If you change your minds, I've had good luck at the Holiday Inn Sunspree. Not sure of the price, but it's very nice (especially for a H.I.), and all of the rooms overlook the ocean.
