Virgina Beach Ideas
We are two adult women traveling late March for 3 days and have never been to this area of the country. We will be flying into Richmond and staying in VB. We will have a rental car so what of great interest is there in the area? Open to any ideas!

Before I reply, tell my why you chose VA Beach. Business, beach, boardwalk? Are you looking for nightlife, outdoors activities? Do you want to stay within VA Beach/Norfolk or would you venture to the Peninsula (which you will be driving through anyway from Richmond)?

We'll be there for 1 1/2 days of work. We have not made air travel yet, so that might change to Norfolk as I now understand is closer. Would be interested in some nightlife, but mainly daytime activities/sightseeing.
Thanks in advance for your advise! |
Not much going on in Virginia Beach in March. I would definitely fly into Norfolk.
Norfolk Waterside is where you might find some nightlife. http://www.norfolkdowntown.com/nightlife/ ((b)) |
If it isn't too cold, on the boardwalk in Va. Beach is the Hilton which has a great patio bar and a fantastic roof top bar.

You will be just an hour away from Williamsburg, Virginia, if historical sight-seeing, and/or shopping is of interest. http://www.visitwilliamsburg.com/

I only go to VA Beach for kids' sporting events so I don't know a lot. The Aquarium there is very nice.
Downtown Norfolk has a downtown mall (Nordstroms) and is within walking distance of Waterside. Nauticus is a science museum more geared to kids than adults but there are some boat tours that go out of there that could be fun. Look at Chrysler Hall and the VA Beach Convention Center for shows appearing during your dates. PHF in Newport News is another airport option for you. |
Fly into Norfolk.
I recommend restaurant "One Fish, Two Fish" in Virginia Beach (bay side) - moderately expensive, but very good food, lively atmosphere. |
