View of NY skyline
I have heard that New Jersey offers promenade walks along the Hudson River across from New York City. I have always wanted to find a great park or walkway area with various food vendors and such where you can look over the river from the Jersey side and watch the New York skyline. Does anyone know of any good area in New Jersey that offers this across the river from NYC?

Yes. Hoboken, New Jersey. They have a fabulous promenade which offers a great view of the city. You will not, however, find food vendors along the promenade but you will find a variety of pubs and other restaurants to enjoy just a block away on Washington Street.

If you take a ferry across to Weehauken, you can see wonderful views..here is a site for that.
http://www.littleviews.com/home/newy...mp;date_range= We used to visit friends in NJ and went through the Lincoln Tunnel then drove along the river in Hoboken and Weehauken. There is a park in Weehauken that overlooks NYC..the views are indeed wonderful. |
I should also mention that you would take the Path from NYC and get off at the 33rd Street (last) stop in Hoboken.

Note re Path: Hoboken is the last stop on that particular Path line in NJ. 33rd Street is the last stop on the opposite end of the same line in NYC.
Liberty State Park in Jersey City has a nice promenade, but no food vendors. Hoboken or Weehawken are best bets for restaurants with views & areas to walk & enjoy the skyline. Ferry to NJ www.nywaterway.com |
There are a lot of areas in NJ that offers beautiful views of Manhattan. My favorites are Newport and Liberty State Park in Jersey City - you can bike from Newport to liberty State park along the shores of the Hudson. The city of North Bergen (just off the Lincoln Tunnel) also has parks that offer views from across mid-Manhattan.
I'm just wondering why you want to view NYC from New Jersey. Have you been across the Brooklyn Bridge to the Dumbo area of Brooklyn (right off the foot of the bridge) with one of the best pizza place in NY and a local popular ice-ceram parlor, plus a great view of Manhattan? |
Other great views of NYC - esp at night - are coming from Jersey across the GWB - yes , you can walk it but it's interminable - and from the Triborough from Queens.
