Victoria to Olympic National Park

Many thanks to all who answered my earlier question re Seattle to Victoria. We cancelled the rental car and made reservations on Kenmore air. Now, what suggestions on getting to Olympic Nat'l Park from Victoria? Is there a direct ferry to that area? Can we rent a car after we depart the ferry-we will need to drive back to Seatac. Also, hotel rec for the 2 nights near the park. Thanks in advance for all the help. You guys are great!

Just a little info till the west coast wakes up:

Yes there is a ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles. I assume there would be a car rental place. We stayed at a Super8 there a number of years ago to visit Hurricane Ridge, then spent another night at Kalalock Lodge on the ocean, to see Hoh rain forest.

Hey! It's 6:20 am and I'm up and on the way to work!

The ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles is the M.V. Coho (http://www.cohoferry.com/). I t will be easy to rent a car in Port Angeles, but the drop-off charge at Sea-Tac may be high. The above suggestion of Kalaloch Lodge is a good one. They have a series of nice cabins located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific. Another really fine hotel is the Lake Crescent Lodge.

Our favorite places to stay are the Best Western Olympic Lodge in a King room facing the golf course or the Red Lion in a room facing the water Kalaloch Lodge is a rustic place outside the park. We are staying at Lake Crescent Lodge for the first time this weekend. The setting is beautiful, but the rooms have no TV, fridge, or telephone.

We liked the Olympic Best Western in Port Angeles. I thought it was the newest & nicest motel in town. It is also easy to get up to Hurricane Ridge from there. You can't lose with the views. One side faces the Olympic Mountains & the other faces the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The free breakfast is also great. They even have a nice outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi, if you have time for it.
