VICTORIA BC accomodation, cute,not expensive

HELP! I am looking for a nice, CLEAN accomodation, but not too expensive in Victoria. We will have a car. THANKS for any info!!!

Perhaps this information comes to late for you, but we have just returned from Victoria....stayed at a delightful downtown hotel called the Bedord Regency (or Regency Bedford). They have a good midweek rate (before the summer crowds arrive) of anywhere from $59 to 79, plus parking nearby at $10 a day. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

On our last trip to Victoria, we opted for a B and B north of town on the Pat Bay Highway. I recall that the name was Elk Lake Lodge, run by Gil and Pam Parsons when we were there. The room we had was comfortable, with a private bath. Plenty to eat for breakfast. If you have a car, we found Victoria fairly easy to drive around. Although I am not a garden type of guy, Butchart Gardens were most
lovely. If you like floral displays, then you will love it -- no doubt.

To both of you asking the same question: Last summer my husband/son/and I stayed in B.C for three nights. We really had a lovely time. B.C. is so quaint... We stayed at the Strathcona Hotel which is older but has a great location. You have to stay on the top floor for their are clubs below which can be noisy in the evenings. Also, there was a very nice Quality Inn on the Harbor, DIRECTLY across from the Ferry. The Executive Hotel was painted yellow and very quaint. There is an accommodations guide you can get through their visitor's bureau - it has all of the hotels listed and thier #800 numbers. Remember to ask them to give you a room rate quote in American dollars which were very good at the time. Most any place we saw looked nice, safe, and clean. I don't think you could go wrong whatever you choose. Remember to tour the Empress Hotel and view the Parliment buildings lit up at night on the Harbor. Barb's Place is the ONLY place for local, authentic fish n'chips - a real dive but delicious and raved about by the locals! Have fun!

Hello Haley....Hello Victor:

I would agree with the suggestion made by Raeona.

The Regency Bedford (or Bedford Regency - I can't remember either!) would be an excellent choice of a quite nice, well priced accommodation which is just about in the heart of downtown Victoria. Once there, and if you like to stroll, you can see a lot without having to rely on you car.

May I suggest two side trips? The Royal BC Museum, located by the downtown harbour. And, if you have time, it would be worth driving up the road (about 1 hour, I think) to the town of Chemanis. The drive is lovely and the town worth the trip -- I'll keep the reason a nice surprise for you to discover. <smile>

Hope each of you has a great trip!.
J.
