Very nice budget motel in La Jolla

I live in La Jolla and had to vacate my home for 2 nights while it was treated for termites. I went to the La Jolla Village Lodge. It has all the amenities a visitor would want: a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, a small bathroom with counter space, a luggage rack, table with 2 chairs, wi-fi, and breakfast. The staff is incredably gracious and helpful. I was amazed! It's in the heart of the village, and only a very short walk to the beach. lajollavillagelodge.com

I live in La Jolla too joy! I wonder if we've crossed paths at Warwicks or Pannikin?

At any rate, I've driven past the La Jolla Village Lodge and it looks very nice. It's in the heart of the downtown village area, within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, shopping.

It used to be some other chain hotel (can't remember which one) that got a little run down, I'm glad someone has fixed it up so nicely.

BTW, the picture of the hotel in your link is an old one. I drove past it two days ago and it must be under a new owner since then. It has been painted trendy southwest orangish colors, and has a surfboard as the sign indicating the name of the hotel.

Great location but can be $50+ higher than the Inn at LJ or the BW Inn but still can't be beat.
They used to show their rates around $125 a night.
Deals are to be had in the village for under $100 with ocean view and a block from the ocean.
Good deal for this motel in the summer and the rooftop bbq is a nice feature.

BW Inn of LJ $98 and the Inn of La Jolla $100 next door to La V..both ocean views in the village a block away.
Travelodge is around $90 a night off season.. in windnsea.
Empress hotel can be had $130 on expedia..maybe cheaper now.

Hi Nanabee, we must have crossed paths at Warwick's--I haunt the place. Perhaps we could meet for coffee. I love meeting fellow Foderites. Joy

I was just at Warwicks too!
Picked up some flowers at Adelaide's and a coffee at the Pannikin.

Thank you ksucat.

Well, I live in San Jose. My Sister will be in San Diego this week but she is a birder and not a Fodorite. lol She wanted me to come down and stay with her but I declined. I only wish I had ksucat recs earlier so I could have given them to sis.
