Vermont in June?
 

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea what temperatures we can expect in Vermont in the middle of June? We will be at Smugglers Notch and our family has been excited about this trip for a long time BUT someone just tried to burst my bubble by telling me that it will be too cold to take advantage of the water park and other water activities. Knowing that weather is very unpredictable, I'm only looking for averages. <BR>Thanks (I think).

It depends on lots of things: is the pool heated; how warm has the spring been; & as a parent, how determined your kids are to go in...why dont u call smugglers? They have a great rep for honesty---I bet theyll give you an accurate idea. PS let me know how it was. I may go there to ski next yr. <BR>

I grew up near Smuggs--you never can tell with the weather in VT. I remember it snowed one memorial day weekend not too far back! It should be in the low to mid 70s, but definatly prepare for cooler weather (50s-60s). Check out weather.com and see if they have a way to check daily average temps. If you can't use Smuggs as a city, use Burlington or Stowe. Have a great time!

I remember well the year it snowed Memorial Day weekend - we were in Woodstock with just our summer clothes (it having been in the 80's when we left our house). The reality is that, in Vermont, there are very few days hot enough for splashing about outdoors in one's bathing suit - all depending upon what you're used to. You could get lucky, though, if there's a hot spell during your visit in June.

Snow on Mansfield over Memorial Day weekend? Big deal. I've been up there in July while it was snowing. That was an interesting picnic... Wear layers - it can also get very warm.

Was really glad to see this post right at the top of the category! We too will be at Smuggler's in June and I have been concerned about the weather. Perhaps we can have a Fodorite get-together, much as we had in Paris last May. <BR>Joy

Last week returned from several days in Vermont (Burlington). Weather was pleasant; in fact, a bit warmer than what I'd anticipated - temps reached highs of 76 degrees with some of that New England humidity. <BR>As a former New Englander (grew up in Quincy, MA), I can testify that weather can be very unpredictable. Also, learned that Burlington is the cloudiest city in the United States (thought Seattle would hold that honor) - guessing it must have something to do with Lake Champlain on the west and the Green Mountains in the east of the area. <BR> <BR>As regarding water sports, it's a safe bet that any natural water (lakes, rivers, etc) will be COLD. When we took our 90 minute tour of Lake Champlain (on Spirit of Ethan Allen II), they said that the lake water was 60 degrees. <BR>
