verizion down at Grand canyon

Does somebody know how verizion cell phone works down at GC?

Ag3046 Apr 7th, 2007 01:55 PM

No reception.

And you can't hike to the bottom in sandals.

And you can't camp without a permit.

Any other stupid/illegal questions you want to ask?

TheWeasel Apr 7th, 2007 01:56 PM

So you can call your lawyer when you get busted without a permit?

jilkovina Apr 7th, 2007 02:50 PM

Is it illegal to hike rim river rim in one day??

mcnyc Apr 7th, 2007 03:02 PM

It's not illegal, but if you can do that in one day, more power to you!

We'll be looking for you on the news.

LoveItaly Apr 7th, 2007 03:06 PM

Are the questions for real, lol?

Anyway, there are payphones that you will be able to use. But bring Euro coins as that is all they will accept for some strange reason. And alert your lawyer you will probably be calling collect because NO, Verizion cell phones will not work "down at GC".

jilkovina Apr 7th, 2007 03:09 PM

loveltaly you make no sense.lol

Your questions are not illegal, but what you want to do: camp in GC w/o a permit, is quite illegal.

So, if you are going to go ahead with your crew, then could you please make sure everyone combs their hair? Mugshots bring out the worst hairstyles in people...

jilkovina Apr 7th, 2007 04:13 PM

i'm very happy to receive such nice answers from you, :)

janisj Apr 7th, 2007 04:22 PM

jilkovina: Your GC threads make you seem very, VERY much a troll. But from all of your other threads it is pretty obvious you are not.

SO - do yourself a BIG favor and stop asking these silly questions about doing silly/stupid/illegal things at the Grand Canyon. No one w/ any sense will help you do something that is totally wrong (WRONG/DANGEROUS/STUPID).

Forget about the sandals, forget about sneaking into the canyon, forget about hiking (it is pretty obvious you, your husband and father are not prepared).

janisj Apr 7th, 2007 04:23 PM

Oh - and definitely forget about verizon reception at the bottom of the GC . . . . .

jilkovina Apr 7th, 2007 04:30 PM

well i was simply curious i didnt mean to bother you with these questions it seems that you are making a pretty big deal out of this oh by the way i have one last question is it legal to go hunting in GC???

nytraveler Apr 7th, 2007 04:38 PM

Perhaps you should consider the following before you try to hike/camp the Canyon without proper permit and equipment - and apparently without much experience hiking. (If you had any experience you would at least have boots and not consider long treks wanderng around a desert wilderness in sandals.)

From a history of the canyon:

About 600 deaths have occurred in the Grand Canyon since the 1870s. Some of these deaths occurred as the result of overly zealous photographic endeavors, some were the result of airplane collisions within the canyon, and some visitors drowned in the Colorado River.

MANY HIKERS OVERESTIMATE THEIR FITNES LEVEL, BECOME DEHYDRATED AND CONFUSED, AND MUST BE RESCUED.

The Park Service now posts a picture of an attractive and fit young man at several trailheads with the caption "Many of them look like him", in an attempt to discourage hikers from feats which are beyond their abilities.

Please note this is a serious attempt to be helpful - not critical. But really, you seem to have no clue what you will be attempting.

<jilkovina: Your GC threads make you seem very, VERY much a troll. But from all of your other threads it is pretty obvious you are not.>

Sorry janisj, but after this last question I must disagree with you. Jilkovina is most definitely trolling. And here I just thought she was being dense.

janisj Apr 7th, 2007 05:09 PM

I agree - the hunting was a bit much, even for jilkovina.

jilko, honey, sweetie - you may not be a troll but your GC questions are beyond trolling. So give it up already! Especially if you ever want any help on a future trip. Some fodorites have VERY good/long memories . . . .

NeoPatrick Apr 7th, 2007 06:50 PM

On a related note, does anyone know if it is legal to kill a troll in the Grand Canyon?

jilkovina Apr 7th, 2007 06:58 PM

what is a troll??????

starrsville Apr 7th, 2007 08:53 PM

Pick up mirror.
Look at it.
Tada! Troll.

Dayle Apr 7th, 2007 09:20 PM

This last post from J has really had me laughing. Got to be a troll, remember lots of kids are out of school this week. On the slight chance he/she is not, I can relax knowing Darwin's theory works.:(|)
