Verde Canyon Railroad anyone??
Has anyone ever taken any of the trips offered by Verde Canyon Railroad in Arizona (40 minutes outside of Sedona)? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

My husband and I went on the Verde RR in September. It is a slow scenic ride. We both enjoyed it--we had a perfect day. I had hoped to see some animals other than cows. Far off in the distance an Eagle's nest was pointed out to us, but we really could not see anything. We paid extra for the 1st class car so we could go between the air conditioned cars and non-air conditioned cars. They also serve some hor deurves(sp?) in the 1st class. Enjoy--let me know if you have any other questions.

It's been awhile since I took the ride but I remember it as being quite pleasant. We had our 3 year old nephew with us and he was enchanted by the cowboy singer. The scenery was great too - and you're right up by Jerome, a great little town to wander away the rest of the day.

We went two years ago. We did not opt for the 1st class tickets...but wish we had. The seats in the regular priced cars were very uncomfortable. We're glad we went...but it's the sort of thing you only need to do once. Just pay the extra for the better seats. Oh...and there's a nice picnic place right there at the station...so we took our lunch while we waited for the train.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like a nice way to spend an afternoon.

Andrea

Have done the Verde Canyon RR twice, and both times, didn't opt for first class. On both trips we spend the entire time on the outdoor viewing car so comfortable indoor seats weren't an issue. It's a lot of fun.
