Ventura....a/c needed?
 

I am looking at a timeshare unit in Ventura, Ca for May. It is on the harbor. It has no a/c. I have looked at weatherunderground etc..and can see the daily temps. It seems like this isn't a problem, but I am a baby and seem to spend a lot of my time hotflashing these days :) Anyone out there with some thoughts on this? It's a great deal and my husband is getting really annoyed with my indecision! Thanks..

I hate the heat but don't use the a/c in Ventura/Santa Barbara. Maybe in Sept, but not May.

I don't think AC is very common in Ventura. As with most places on the CA coast, it rarely gets hot enough to use it. Just open a window.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn in Ventura early May and did not need the air. It was warm enough to go swimming during the day but at night it cooled down quite a bit. It actually wasn't even that hot during the day. I think you'll be fine unless there is some freak heat wave which is unlikely.

If you are considering the resale value, though, air conditioning could be a big sticking point.

A/C near the CA coast is not necessary.
In fact, it gets pretty cool at nights and the seabreeze keeps you cool during the day too!

Why would lack of AC be a sticking point when considering resale value if the property is in an area where AC is rarely if ever needed?

Grew up in Ventura Co and never had air conditioning in any house I lived in or visited. These houses weren't even near the beach. The only time you'd need relief was when the Santa Ana winds blew but at the beach that wouldn't be an issue as there is plenty of cooler air coming off the ocean.
