Venice tourist travel pass
 

Arriving in Venice by train around 12:30 pm on a Monday. Leaving from airport on Thursday before 12:30 pm. Do I buy a 3 day pass or a 4 day pass? Is it based on 24 hr. Day?

There is no 4-day pass in Venice Italy. The cards are valid for the number of hours from the time first used, so a 3-day card should cover your visit.

Here are your choices:

20,00 € - 1 DAY TRAVELCARD (24 Hours)
30,00 € - 2 DAYS TRAVELCARD (48 Hours)
40,00 € - 3 DAYS TRAVELCARD (72 Hours)
60,00 € - 7 DAYS TRAVELCARD (168 Hours)

Thanks for your reply. So, if I get the 3 day pass, I can use the card on Monday (validate around 1PM) to go to my hotel and go to the airport on Thursday (around 10AM)? If so, I can save the 7E to the hotel. I will add on to the pass, the 4E to the airport. This would really help!

If you want others to comment you really should re-post on Europe. ellenem does know Venice - but others that post about the city would never see your thread here on the United States board . . .

I don't know where you are staying but you may need additional transportation to the airport.

You can take the vaporetto to Piazzale Roma, where you can get a bus to the airport. The vaporetto ride will be included in your pass.

I do think that the local bus from Ple. Roma to the airport is included in your pass, but be aware that it is a local bus without room for luggage, and makes stops between Ple. Roma and the airport.

If you are on an extremely tight budget, I guess this would work for you.

Otherwise, you can get a different bus going directly to the airport, for a small amount. That bus has a luggage hold.

Yes, you will have to add on the fare for the bus to the airport in addition to the 3-day card. The current ACTV public bus fare from Piazzale Roma to Marco Polo Airport is 6€, not 4€. This could be added to you travel card.

6€ is the same fare you would pay to take the faster ATVO bus directly to the airport, but you can not put this fare on your travel card--just buy a ticket.

I was going to pay 7E for the ride to the hotel until I read about the travel card. I am assuming that the 3 day travel card will include the ride from the train station.

I did not know that the bus would not have a place for bags. My husband and I will be in Italy for 3 weeks and will each have a rolling duffel bag.

While the ACTV bus is a regular public transport bus with little storage space for luggage, you will be getting on at the first stop and would have no trouble fitting you luggage in somewhere since ther is so much open standing area as is usual on a public transport bus. This makes a few stops along the way.

The ATVO bus is more like a long distance bus with all seats facing forward and luggage storage beneath. This bus does not make any other stops on the way to the airport.
