VENICE BEACH CALIFORNIA
I'm looking for a hotel right on the beach or maybe within one block of Venice Beach. Any suggestions??
|
I bookmarked this one for our next trip:
http://jdvhotels42-px.trvlclick.com/...sangeles/erwin I saw it recommended somewhere, I think on this forum. It is a Joie de Vivre property, which I know are well-managed. |
Loews
Marriott Le Merigot Shutters Casa del Mar Viceroy Bayside [but read reviews] |
Most of the above properties are at Santa Monica... down the beach from Venice... a bit more than a block... but a much nicer area...
|
Have stayed at Loews. Very nice, not cheap. It is right across the street from the beach and has easy access to Santa Monica Pier and restaurants. I rented a bike and rode quickly to Venice on the bikepath. Got sunburned like crazy, but that is another story.

Marriott Le Merigot - stayed here recently - very nice property. Would not pay for Ocean view because most of the building appears blocked by the building in front of it.

Awesome everyone. Gives me some places to start. thanks.

This is in Santa Monica again, but is a great lower cost alternative
The Sea Shore Motel http://www.seashoremotel.com/ It is on Main street at the southern end of Santa Monica close to the much more expensive Loews, Shutters, etc but better located in my opinion because it is right across the street from the Farmers Market which happens once or twice a week and only 1/2 block to the beach. There are great restaurants up and down Main and you aren't up on the cliffs like you are further north in Santa Monica. And a huge plus in the other compared to other hotels-they have free parking and free Wifi. We live in LA. We recommended it to friends coming for graduation for their son from Loyola and they loved it. Very simple-not fancy and no pool. Oh and great little Italian cafe called Amelia's that is a hit with locals for coffee and breakfast. |
In case you need other ideas, there aren't that many hotels in Venice Beach proper, but there are lots in nearby Marina del Rey.
Here's one that my friends always used, but it's closed for renovation now. If you look at the site, on the right hand side, there are other hotels recommended, too: http://www.jamaicabay-inn.com/ We stayed at their Marina Del Rey Hotel sister property once. It really needs renovation, and is scheduled soon for a total overhaul. But, its location is great, and you can eat breakfast in their outdoor patio room, right next to the marina. Free parking, too. Just be aware it's a tad shabby before its planned update. Or the site lists the Inn at Venice Beach, just a block away. |
