Venetian Hotel - Las Vegas
I am going to a conference in September and it's at the Venetian. In looking at the reviews of Hotels for LV the Venetian is getting hammered with poor reviews of late. Anyone stay there lately? Is it as bad as one might expect from the reviews? Is there an another hotel nearby that I should consider instead? Also if one were to stay at the Venetian then any help with room types would be appreciated. I saw where there is a tower that is preferable over the other rooms.

HI--we stayed there in March of this year and it was fine. It is true that some of the furnishings are beginning to show a touch of wear, but for me the spaciousness of the accomodations, the wonderful *huge* bathroom and the cleanliness made it a great choice, esp if one is getting it for a good price. For me, being able to have a nice living room where one can sit and relax is a huge advantage!! I do not know about the tower rooms as both this year (and last year) we stayed in their regular suites.

The Venetian is a great property. I too had read the warnings when we went last summer so I was on the look out. Everything was smooth, from the Friday afternoon check-in, to the clean room and elegant bathroom. My only issue was with the freshness of the sweet rolls in the fast food court!

Stayed there in March also with no complaints. Since you will be checking in during a conference it will be hard to secure an exact room. As far as buildings go, I don't feel there is a big difference between the older building and the newer Venezia tower except the flat screen tv's. If at all possible you want a room with a west strip view. As for the Venezia's "express check in"... if the hotel is busy they will send people from the standard line to Venezia check in, so there goes your "speedy" check in pricess:)
Sorry I don't remember the names of the specific towers but I would phone ahead of time and request a room with a view, and that would be a "bella" or "view" room. These are subject to availibility and you may get more of a pool view than a strip view. No way to guarantee unless you try slipping the reservation agent a $20:) |

We stayed at the Venetian in December and loved it. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was huge with a wonderful soaking tub. Friends of our stayed in the Venezia tower. We didn't see their room but they said it wasn't much different from ours. I had the greatest massage at Canyon Ranch spa. Wish I remembered the name of the guy because he had magic hands!

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated

Stayed there last October. It was wonderful! Absolutely no sign of showing wear and tear. We had a non-strip view, facing the back and no lights from the casinios, but still very nice nonetheless. I would definitely stay there again.
