Vendue or Indigo Inn?

We are planning to visit Charleston in June 2016. I am trying to make hotel reservations and our budget is around 250/nt. From my research so far I believe it best to stay in the historic district. The Vendue and Indigo Inns are in our price range and I was wondering if anyone has recommendations between the 2 or another in our range. Also is it worth it to move closer to the coast (Kiawah or IOP) for a night or 2? We have 5-6 nights total for this trip.

What if I add Ansonborough Inn into the mix? Any opinions?

Hello lindsyb,

I can't help you with a comparison but I can say that I stayed at the Vendue Inn, was very much charmed by it. Most fellow guests seemed to appreciate the hotel from what I could tell. The location was ideal for exploring.

Best wishes, Daniel

Kiawah is lovely and quiet and great if you like to golf. However, it is a lot farther away from Charleston proper than IOP is. There is not much there in the way of hotels, and in June it seems you would have to rent a place for a week. There is the Sanctuary there which is absolutely beautiful, but it is out of your price range. I don't think you need 5 or 6 nights in Charleston. I would check out IOP.

Good luck! You will love Charleston.

We (2 couples) stayed at The Indigo Inn in September 2014 and really like it. The rooms were good sized, clean and comfortable. (The room FIRST shown on website) was the one we stayed in.

Breakfast was very good and we really liked the afternoon happy hour with munchies. We especially like the courtyard area. The outside isn't much to look at, but that doesn't matter.

Ask for senior or AAA rate by phone, it's not shown on website. IIRC, they are both owned by same people and are close to one another. In fact, the breakfast for both may be at Indigo?

I loved the Vendue and the views, especially from the rooftop deck. It would be my pick.

I stayed at the Ansonborough Inn. Free parking, large room, rooftop bar ( guests only so not crowded), breakfast and wine reception included in the rate. Excellent location for walking. Recommended.

I was incorrect that Vendue and Indigo are owned by same people. It's another hotel who's name escapes me.
