Vegetarian restaurants in downtown Chicago area

My son and DIL are heading to Chicago the first part of September and I'd like to give them a restaurant gift card to enjoy (for son's birthday).

I'm looking for recommendations on some upscale vegetarian restaurants. Any suggestons?

Thanks so much!

The Chicago Diner on Halsted in Boystown is a vegetarian staple, but I wouldn't consider this an upscale restaurant. I would also check out the Green Zebra.

Not so much downtown- but in Bucktown/Wicker Park there is Jane's and Earwax cafe. But I'd put my money in MANA near Division and Wood.

Thanks for the suggestions. Green Zebra has a really interesting menu and I like the diner idea a lot.

However, I don't think they will have a car and so I need to check and see if any of these places are near public transportation.

You can take the Red or Brown line to Belmont to get to the Chicago Diner. It's an easy walk from the Belmont El station.
