I cook a lot of Asian food and corn starch not only is used as a thckener but is also used as part of the marinades. that may be where you are getting the surprise corn. Be careful with chicken dishes. Corn starch is in most of the marinades for chicken - it's what causes the meat to crisp quickly in a wok.
