Vegas with 5
 

Just for the heck of it, we are going to spend a night in Vegas. Can anyone suggest a themed hotel on the strip that will allow 5 in a room? we are Mom, Dad, daughter (13), and two sons (10,6).

The horrific Circus Circus and the marginally better Excalibur will allow that many people in one room. I absolutely do NOT recommend Circus Circus, and Excalibur gets only marginal approval from me (it's better than CC, but only slightly). Luxor's location is not great, but it's definitely themed and their website allows you to reserve a room for five people. I don't know if that will hold when you arrive at check-in....

Most better Strip properties have a four-person-per-room limit. New York New York and Paris are two properties that are themed and are "appropriate" for children, and neither will accept five to a room.

Bear in mind also that rates shoot up for weekend reservations. When will you be needing this room?

Do you have a particular budget in mind? Venetian is themed (though less extensively than some) and is all suites. They may allow 5, but you'd have to check their website for details.

Many of the hotels probably offer suites that would hold 5. If you go to www.vegas.com and look at all the hotels, I think you can get links to each website there and explore their suite offerings.

I would stay at the Monte Carlo. They do accept 5 guests in a room. Mid-range in terms of rates. Nice location. The kids will like the pool area. Regular pool, wave pool and lazy river. We have stayed at the Monte Carlo once already and plan to stay there again this month with our 2 kids. As the other poster indicated, I would stay away from Circus Circus.

Instead of five people sharing a bathroom, what about two rooms? Maybe right off the strip?

I don't know of any that allow 5 in a room (fire codes), but if you can get a special rate at Treasure Island from their promotions page, you might be better off getting two rooms since they charge $30 for each person over 2 in the room.

With the ages of your kids, you might want to try Mandalay Bay. It has a huuuge wave pool, the biggest in the city, and Shark Reef. It's relatively close to MGM and Luxor, which are fun. Don't know about their room rates or policies on number of people in a room.

They may allow 5 to a room (but there are fire codes so I am not sure, it sounds pretty crowded to me tho). If they do be aware that they most likely are going to charge you extra for each person so it may be better to get 2 room (ask for adjoining). You might be better off "off strip" at a place like Embassy Suites where you actually will have a 2 room "suite" rather then cramming five people into a regular hotel room.

I think if you reserve a suite at the Venetian with two queen beds, they would allow you to have five in the room. If the room has a sofabed, then it is designed to accommodate five people. I would call and ask.
