Vegas w/o reservations

Is it a good idea to go to Vegas without hotel reservations? Can you get better deals?

only been to vegas once...drove in from the grand canyon on a weekend w/ no reservations. i did call a few places several weeks before arriving but they didn't want to give us a room for 1 night on a weekend. went to a "tourist bureau" place on the strip and got a list of rooms after telling them our price range.....and the rates were cheaper then the hotels quoted us. they booked a room for us on the spot. this was in the second week of December several years ago.

Depends. If you 're going to be there Sun thru Thur and not happen to hit a major convention , the biggest land mine you have to worry about , then there are times you can get a better deal. Depends how big you are about "gambling" with this and how much time you want to spend going from hotel to hotel to see the best deal they'll offer you.

If the question is ,can this be done , the answer is probably yes, but if the question is should this be done , the answer is probably no. Personally I don't think the potential savings would be worth the hassel what with all the deals that are out there to start with.

I would agree with Rick that timing makes all the differnece. But in the age of the internet -which obviously you have access to - there is no reason not to make advance reservations. You will get the best rates by reserving in advance. Most casinos websites offer special internet deals, and several hotel consolidators offer greal deals on LV hotels.
