Vegas vs. Foxwoods

Has anyone been to both? I live on the East Coast and have been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun a few times. I'm going to Las Vegas for the first time in a few weeks and was wondering how it will compare. I know there is no comparison town for town, but for the hotel/casino itself, what would you say is similar to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun? Are there hotels/casinos similar in Vegas? Trying to get a feel for the places. Is a casino a casino??

There is no comparison.
Foxwoods / Mohegan Sun are fine for a day away, but you are confined to the one casino, boring, not great restaurants, boring, and the drive to and from the city is a pain!
Las Vegas is amazing, food, sights, glitz, variety, something for everyone, all kinds of people, food, accomodations, real gambling or just fooling around gambling.
I think that the Conn casinos are pale imitations.
Have a great time in LV and read all the vegas trip reports on here!and Good Luck!

I have been to Foxwoods several times and I just went to Las Vegas last year.
Basically, things are cheaper in Vegas (food, drinks, table minimums, rooms, etc.) since there is so much competition there. My opinion is that Foxwoods really rips you off because they can. Much better deals in Vegas.
Also, just having so many hotels and casinos around is great. For the most part, a casino is a casino is a casino, but I really liked the different atmospheres in the casinos and the hotels in Vegas. Some of the different themes are really great.
Have a great time.

I agree with the others...Foxwoods and Vegas are on the opposite end of the spectrum. If you like to gamble, enjoy good food, want to see top entertainers and not spend a lot of money...then Las Vegas is the only place that fits that description. It is billed The Entertainment Captipal of the World and it Truly is!!!!!

Comparing Vegas to Foxwoods is like comparing Radio City Music Hall to your grade-school kid's dance recital.

We been to Vegas many times and have also gambled in Niagara Falls, New Orleans, Nassau, Indian Casinos and on several cruise ships. Las Vegas is the real thing, all others are just poor imitations! Enjoy your trip.
