Vegas Trip Report

Wife & I just got back from 5 fabulous days in LV. Though we've been numerous times, I thought I'd share the high points (no particular order):

1. Diablo Restaurant (MGM)- very good mexican w/ an eclectic twist
2. Breakfast Buffet @ Paris Hotel (not a buffet a person but was impressed)
3. 'O' - good....like Mystere a lot more
4. We stayed at Bally's- great location, decent-to-good for a mid priced hotel
5. Lewis Black- (MGM) Hilarious!
6. We checked in to Bally's at the airport. If I had to do it over, I'd probably wait till we got to the hotel. The staff at the airport readily admits the hotel has more flexiblity (upgrades, room preferences, early/late check out, etc)

Excellent.
Good to know #6.

Thank you for your to-the-point report. Fun to read--not like those long-winded reports that go on and on commenting on every twist and turn including the brand of toilet paper in the bathroom.

The Best Western in Chinle, AZ had Angel Soft PC - whatever the "PC" stood for!

Good advice. My wife and I are going Vegas for the first time next week. How is the Luxor and the location?

Pumpy Aug 5th, 2006 08:10 PM

I stayed at the Luxor a cpl years back. Nice hotel but the location is not the best...located at the very south end of the strip. It's reasonably close to MGM, NYNY, etc but a bit removed from the central action (Belagio, Paris, Caesar's, etc). Regardless, you'll enjoy the hotel and should have a wonderful time (it's only a short cab ride or bus ride to mid-strip). Enjoy!

There an electric train ride from the luxor for a few stops, you can take to get closer to the middle of the trip. It was free then. It's been a while since I've been there.

We liked Ballys too when we stayed there a few years ago. I thought the rooms were big and liked the large pool area. We also had a very good lunch in a sushi bar in the basement shopping area of the hotel. Don't remember anything remarkable about the toilet paper...

Thanks for the trip report. I SO agree with "happytrailstoyou". Some of the trip reports are so long and drawn out as to every twist, turn, to the color of the menus in restaurants. I am surprised some have not reported on the fonts as well.

Just a thought. There are so few trip reports on this board and some begin their report tentatively and then ask for feedback. Some say they won't write trip reports because they don't want to get criticized - or flamed.

Different folks like to read different kinds of trip reports. Maybe to keep more coming on this board we could read the ones we like (and post thanks to the poster) and just don't read the ones we don't like (and not criticize the poster's writing style).

I can scan read for the info I want or am interested in. My personal preference would to have MORE trip reports (of any types) to read - not less.

Just two cents.

I wrote a trip report on Vegas a few days ago and received no feedback. Zero. That's fine but it bugs me to hear trip reports 'critiqued' when someone takes the time to actually write one.

My two cents (since I started this thread): I like short / concise trip reports. I personally don't want to read the reports where they start the minute they woke up and drove to the airport ...... I like to share / am interested in to the point reports which detail the good, bad, & the ugly. As Joe Friday used to say (for those of us old enough to know who he is)..."Just the facts"

I liked my Bally's stay 2 years ago. Very convienent to everywhere. And I like it's connected to Paris. :-)
