Vegas Transportation Help Please?

What is the best way to get to the Mandalay Bay from the Westin Casaurina?

Our group of eight has to be at the start of the Las Vegas Marathon at the Mandalay Bay around 5AM.

Would the monorail be our best bet? I'm afraid the streets will already be closed so cabs may not be possible.

Sorry GoT but Vegas doesn't get up THAT early! Or stays up that late :)) On the monorail's website the time is from 7 am.

All streets can't be closed, so it's either a taxi, just ask the driver to get as close as he can, or maybe for this large group you can find a limo instead of 2 taxis?

Have you tried to contact the marathon organizers, maybe they can advise regarding street closure?

They might start the Monorail early because of the Marathon. You would actually have to take 2 monorails. From the Westin, you would take the Monorail to the end at MGM Grand, then hoof it through the humungous MGM Grand complex, across the Strip and then onto the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay train that runs 24 hours a day.

If they are not closing down the Strip, you could use the Deuce bus. You would just have to walk the block & 1/2 from the Westin to the Flamingo.

Good Luck!

Yes, the strip will be closed as that is the first six miles of the race.

Crap.

What about a limo service?

I've hunted all over the Las Vegas Marathon website (www.lvmarathon.com) but no dice.

Okay, I just booked a limo with Las Vegas Limos for $80.

$10 per person isn't too bad.

This is pretty funny, you are running a marathon but rent a limo to get to the starting point because you can't walk it or run it? It's only a couple miles.

Ha. Ha.

Trying to save our legs and feet for the RACE.

It's all about the proper entrance ;)

FainaAgain Oct 30th, 2007 11:34 AM

Sorry I should've said "making an entrance" :)

GoTravel Oct 30th, 2007 12:09 PM

You know me Faina, I'm all about making the grand entrance!
