Vegas show options
 

Going to Las Vegas in Nov with my husband, his sister and his mom. Trying to pick out a show to see. We're in our 40s, mom's 79. Want something fun but classy. We're looking at these 3 shows:

Gladys Knight
Mamma Mia
Paul Anka

Any comments on any of these? Or others to recommend? We're there Sun-Wed so Mystere isn't an option. We're staying at Paris. Thanks for any advice.

My husband and I have seen Mama Mia twice. Of the 3 you've mentioned, I think all of you would enjoy that one.

Saw Paul Anka earlier this year simply because we couldn't get into another show. He was terrific. Interacted with the audience (he lets you take pictures during the show--many shows forbid it). He still sounds good considering how long he has been performing. Chats with the audience and he is quite the entertainer. Enjoyed it more than expected.

Saw Gladys Knight with the local symphony a few years back and she also is fantastic! Great singer, wonderful show.

Haven't seen Mamma Mia but I'm not a fan of ABBA.

The absolute best show I ever saw in LV is Celine Dion's. Yes, it's expensive but it's an experience. Absolutely incredible.

I haven't seen the three you mention but I highly recommend Danny Gans. I took my mother last year and she loved him also. We got tickets the day of the show from our concierge. She got us 10 rows from the front for $75 per ticket. Rita Rudner is another favorite and she has her own theatre at New York New York. I stayed at the Paris two weeks ago and enjoyed the entertainment in the cigar lounge. Luckily no one was smoking at the time. I believe its called Napoleans and is just before the escalator to the parking garage. They have wonderful complementry french bread open sandwiches for their happy hour and a great wine list. Enjoy your stay.

I, too recommend Danny Gans...thought he was GREAT! OSB.

We're not Abba fans either, but still loved Mama Mia. Danny Gans and Gladys Knight put on good shows too. I know some people like Rita Rudner, but we saw her show and didn't laugh one time.

I have been many times to LV and have taken my Grandmother, age 84. Her favorite show ever seen was Danny Gans. She is a huge entertainment fan, but is most interested in music since she herself was part of a trio in the 40s and owned a couple night clubs. You can see Mamma Mia in NYC or possibly in your hometown- so why see it in Vegas (good, but geared a little more towards your age)? Gladys Knight or Paul Anka would be good choices for your Mom- but I'll bet of the two Gladys Knight may be a bit better for you! I still vote for Danny Gans hands down though.

i guess you need to buy the tix in advance, even for a weeknight? is it smart to buy the tix directly from the casinos or is there a better way?
