Vegas- limo or shuttle?
trying to decide between reserving a limo (about 122 RT) and taking the shuttle..12 RT pp...since there are 6 of us the shuttle would be 72...quick math:) limo is 50.00 more expensive...is it worth it?

meaning for airport transfers- to strip hotel
|
If you are talking Airport transfers you don't need to reserve a limo, there will be plenty available across from the taxi line. If you have more than 3 people, it will also be cheaper (than a taxi). Whoever drops you off, take their card & give them a call or set up your departure time w/them, it could save you some $$.

wouldn't it be cheaper to have a reservation? what is the cost if I just walk up for the limo? does anyone have a preferred limo service?
thanks! |
Everything is negotiable & it will depend on how busy they are but it seems we've always paid $50 or $60 bucks. It seems interesting too me that you are going to Vegas & worrying about saving $5 on transportation, that should be the very least of your concerns...lol

did i say i was worrying about 5.00? not at all...the difference is 50.00 and i don't mind paying it...i was just wondering if it was worth it??:)
|
also...just i kind of like to have "my ducks in a row" ie. taking a walk up sometimes scares me b/c i have been in cities where there are plenty of unauthorized drivers trying to scam a bit...since i am somewhat in charge on this trip, i just want to make sure i know what to expect and tell the others in my party. this is our first time to vegas!

Why not rent a car? Then you'll have the flexibility to do some sightseeing off the strip.
|
rent a limo if you don't want to stand in line for a taxi.
don't rent a car. taxis are everywhere and are used to driving short distances, even from resort to resort, just give them a decent tip for short trips. driving along the strip is too frustrating, too much traffic. cabs know the shortcuts and besides, you won't be driving so you won't care. don't miss caesars shopping mall or the nordstrom mall just behind treasure island (actually a shortcut from inside treasure island, just ask someone) (more reasonable prices at the mall, but caesars is fun fun fun, good eating at their mall too....wolfgang pucks is my caesar mall fav) bellagio mall ultra $$$$. venetian mall fun and lots good restaurants inside mall area that overlook the singing gondola drivers. get tickets for O or phantom or any cirque you won't regret! the nicer resorts have a better ventilation system if you hate cigarette smoke as much as i do. don't forget to walk thru paris' inside. vegas is adult disneyland. take a limo, get yourself started off right, you only live once. arrange for the limo back to airport as well (ahead of tiime) ENJOY! SPAS, AAAhhhh, too much to do there!! my fav spa is venetian but if you stay at bellagio don't miss theirs, awesome as well, caesars not bad either. |
Can't speak to if it is easier to have a reservation, I've never needed one. Thing is, you walk up to a limo & book your return trip right then, they'll cut you a deal. If you'd rather have the piece of mind, then make a reservation. Have you ever been to Vegas before ? If not, I'd do some more home work, start w/cheapovegas.com.

thanks Goldie...great advice...do you have a fave limo company?
Oh San Paris...I have done lots of homework...I have a spreadsheet with about 10 pages full of info that I have collected...i think it is always good to hear first hand from fodorites:) I will book a limo...have tickets to Beatle's Love since we are big Beatle's fans...also I think we are going to take in Blue Man Group b/c some of the people in the group really want to do that...staying at Mirage:) |
no, we just stand in the taxi lines! have someone go get into the line while the rest of you get the luggage, then you won't have to wait.
yes, beatles show is awesome for sure! we took our young adult kids and we all had a great time. mirage has an awesome steakhouse that we go out of our way to get to, Stacks. yum, fine dining but you can dress casual which helps. i always like to get away from the casinos to eat. these days mostly shop, spa and eat in vegas. mirage is a good location, you can walk to about anyplace you wanna go from there. they also have nice two bedroom "penthouse" suites that are pretty cheap as suites go if you have another couple to share with, livingroom, dining area, wetbar in between the master suites, one on each end of the setup. we stayed there for new years 2000 and watched all the activity below, awesome strip view. |
goldie - '...while someones goes & gets the luggage"..?! If you can't carry it (on) you don't need it...lol
|
lol, i bring my own coffeepot/coffee and usually wine (picky), thats a suitcase in itself. that way, i know my basic needs will be met perfectly! my backpack days are long gone, my suitcases have the all-directional wheels (spinners, once you try them you never can use anything else) ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!
|
Yes I am thinking of bringing my coffee pot too. I need that first cup before anyone can even go get it:)
I do know what you mean about those all-directional wheels...so nice. |
ya, i know where my coffee pot has been and that comforts me. it definately has not been set into the bathroom sink to clean as i have seen done in hotels.....
