Vegas in March

First time back to Vegas in over 15 years. Will be staying at the Califonia Hotel with shuttle to and from the airport included in our package.

What kind of weather (temperatures) can we expect during the latter part of March?

Also, what would be the best way to get to the strip hotels such as Venetian, Paris, MGM, etc? Are there buses or shuttles from the downtown area to the strip? We are in good health so once on the strip, walking is no problem.

Or maybe we should rent a car?

I'd rent a car. You can park at most of the hotel/casinos on the Strip for free (I usually park at Caesar's Palace), and Vegas is so much more than the Strip! There is a monorail that connects most of the big hotels at the south end (the Strip is longer than you think -- I walked the whole thing once and it took me all night).

Temps toward the end of March are quite pleasant...70s to low 80s.

I wouldn't rent a car. Just use the shuttle to/from the airport. The Deuce bus runs from downtown to the other end of the strip. Info here: http://www.rtcsnv.com/deuce/

Alternate that with walking and the monorail and you'll have no problem getting around. If you want a rental car to go off the strip you can probably rent one at the casino or nearby.

But just checking the website for your hotel "The Cal" I see that it has it's own shuttle operating with other casinos:

March can be tricky - I was there this year in March and it was lovely - very pleasant - 75 or so... the year before I was also there in March (cheer competitions) and it SNOWED... yes - SNOWED.

Wow, snow huh? I'll be sure to track the weather before we go so we can be prepared for cool or freezing. Thanks!
