Vegas Hotels with teen and 11 yo.

What would you pick?
Wynn
Bellagio
Four Seasons
Mandarin
Palazoo

Daytrips planned to visit Hoover Dam, Valley of Fire, and possibly Zion if we can muster up strength for drive. Maybe drive out and stay the night in Utah and come back before flight home.

Anyway - its a winter trip - so too cold to swim. We aren't gamblers - so casino not important. My kids really want to see Vegas - they like the idea of the lights, giant hotels, and they love foodie food!

Any advice?

Realistically yes- but I'd like to know what the best options are and then work from there.

Personally, I would opt for a hotel without a casino to avoid smoke. I think the atmosphere would also be a bit more suitable for your kids.

The Signature is nice, big, and sophisticated. Deals can be found.

Four Seasons and Mandarin fit too but come with a big price tag. Trump and Vdara too.

The rates for both Four Seasons and Mandarin are a deal for the dates I'm looking. I'm going to take advantage of that!!!! Now to decide between the 2!! It looks like the 4S is encompassed w/i Mandalay Bay and the Mandarin is on its own. Any pros and cons to that? They are both rated very high on TA.

Although we had to cancel the trip, we had booked the Four Seasons so we wouldn't be in a casino as we would come and go to our room. It is connected to the Mandalay Bay but as we understood, you were separated from the casino scene.

Stay away from LV with the kids. I like the Hacienda which is less than 3 miles from Hoover Dam. http://www.hotels.com/ho265252/hacie...united-states/
The turnoff to go to Valley of Fire along the west side of Lake Meade is also within 2 miles.
The Hacienda also has a very good buffet for your foodie sons.
In the summer, there is a helicopter tour that takes off from the hill next to the parking lot.

Do go to Death Valley. My favorite way to go is to head north on rt.95 to Beatty, then go west, there is a sign. There is a ghost town called Rhyolite just a short way off the west bound road, it has a house made of beer bottles, and some ruins of buildings. Then stop at the pit toilets at the top of the crest and check the view down into the valley. Head south when you reach the bottom.

We are back from the trip! We ended up at the Mandarin in LV, rented car to see Hoover Dam one morning and then after 3 nights at the MO we drove to DV for one night. We didnt make it to the north side of the park - Scottys Castle and Rhyolite. We really were able to visit mostly the Southern and central areas ...Furnace Creek, Golden canyon, Zabriski, Badwater, Sand Dunes near. Very Cool place!! Perfect weather in December!!!
