vegas hotels

help!!!! of the following hotels...I would like to know which would be most recommended. My kids priority is the pool, the casino is more or less immaterial to us. Any suggestions are most appreciated: Tropicana, Flamingo, MGM, Mirage

Mirage. Better yet for the pool, Mandalay Bay.

Hands down the Mandalay Bay pool is unbelievable, the best. Depending on the ages of the kids, the Hard Rock's pool is also excellent.

I agree that the pool at Mandalay Bay is the best. The Flamingo also has a huge pool area that is very nice and the hotel is in the center of the strip.

If your kids are with you there is a great arcade located in NYNY.

There was a great thread on here that had a list of kid friendly activities in vegas.

jpm

Copied from my post on another thread:

We were just there with our 2 kids (10&13) for 3 days. We stayed at the Mirage which has a great pool, but it was too cold to swim. In any case we found lots to do. SOme things your kids will enjoy for free are the Pirate show, evenings at treasure island, the volcano, evenings at mirage, the moving statue shows at ceasars palace, and check out the flamingos and penquins at the Flamingo. Also just checking out some of the hotels on the strip like the venetian (which is incredible), paris, NYNY, etc. It's kind of like epcot, all these little different country areas. For a fee (but well worth it)is the shark acquarium at mandalay, the lion/dolphin habitat at mirage. In fact they have several dolphin pools and my kids played catch with the dolphins for about a 1/2 hour. they could have spent the entire day there! Also the Back to Atlantis Ride at ceasers (kind of a 3-d universal studio type ride) was one of my kids favorites. We also splurged and got tickets to Mystere which is great. We had a car and spent a 1/2 day at hoover dam (about 30 miles away). For food, we liked the buffets, it seemed like the easiest and they are fairly reasonable compared to some of the reataurants in the hotels. We also enjoy the italian restaurant (I can't remember the name, but think it starts with B) in the shopping concourse of ceasers. It the one next to the Piazza Navona looking fountain.

We did check out the pool at Mandalay and it is great but it's way at the end of the strip. The Mirage is next to treasure island (tram available) & ceasers, across from venetian and the Flamigo is also very close. We ate at the Mirage and TI buffets and enjoyed them both.

Of that list, stay at the Mirage.

Hi,
One hotel that's not mentioned that's great for a pool, is the Monte Carlo. It has a wave pool, and a lazy river where you float along in an innertube. It's a really nice clean hotel in a great location. Right next door to New York, New York. It also has a tram to the Bellagio for easy access to that area of the strip. We stayed there last August for $69.00 per night.
A nice thing also is they have a food court with Mcdonald's, Nathan's, etc... for a quick cheap bite to eat.
It doesn't have any drawing attractions which means it doesn't get the foot traffic that the other hotels do. We're planning on staying there again just for the lazy river!
