Seems Monte Carlo has nice reviews with the best location. Any comments?

Mandalay Bay has the best pools in Vegas, wave pool, lazy river, traditional, hot tubs, and a big sandy beach. Perfect for all, but crowded, of course. I don't think any Vegas pools have slides, though i could be wrong.
With a 13 year old, Mandalay Bay also has an incredible aquarium called Shark Reef. You can also take the monorail to the Luxor next door, which has an arcade and more kid stuff, and the Excalibur also. NYNY has an amazing roller coaster. Plenty to do with a teenager, I'm sure some websites can give you tons more ideas. have fun, wear sunblock. |
I agree with the Mandalay Bay Resort for having the best pools and all around fun time for teenagers and adults! You never have to leave the property with the wide array of restaurants and activities.

Seems like I've read that the Flamingo pool has a slide. Our family stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay last summer and loved their pool. It was crowded but not overly so. Hint: Bring your own innertubes (stop at Walgreens or Walmart) and save the hefty rental fee. Although it doesn't have a slide, the Mirage has a great pool, too--very tropical with waterfalls. Our kids were 13 and 16 at the time of our vacation and they loved Las Vegas. We went to Penn and Teller's show at the Rio one night--it was okay but none of us were overly impressed. I've heard Mac King (trying to remember if he's at Harrah's or the Flamingo--just google and you'll find him) has a very funny comedy show that's fine for teens.

I agree with Mandalay Bay. It's got a great pool set up, and less "casino-y" than the other big hotels, which makes it more friendly in your situation I think. Lots of shopping too.

Thanks for all responses. However I heard location for Mandalay Bay is not that good - Monte Carlo has similar pool but on smaller scale but better location. Any comments?

Go here: www.cheapovegas.com. Click on the link for "best swimming", and you'll find oodles of info about pools.
The rest of the stuff is pretty good, too. Cute and funny, yet useful! Happy travels! |
Although I agree that Monte Carlo is more centrally located, I am also a pool lover and think Mandalay is worth it. I also think the whole property is in better shape. If you have a car I don't think it matters.
and kopp is right about cheapovegas.com, I love that site. |
I wouldn't worry about Mandalay Bay's location. With the free tram and the monorail (which costs), it's easy and quick to get around. A taxi ride to the middle of the strip is pretty cheap and has worked well for us in the past. Another thing--if you have a car, valet parking is free at the big hotels--just tip the valet :-)
