Vegas Hotel for December
Hi everyone, my family and I are visiting Las Vegas for the first time in December on the 24-30 this year. I have read a few forum posts stating that the lowest rates are usually available in November around Thanksgiving for my time frame. Can anyone inform a newbie if this is true or not? We would like to stay on the strip since it is our first time. Thank you!

The Friday after thankgiving [Black Friday] or the following Monday had some really good deals last year.

I have been to Las Vegas in early December and got great rates. But the downside is that many of the shows are dark and some restaurants may be closed so they can amp up for the holidays. Also in December, you have to work around the National Finals Rodeo, which spikes up prices.
You are going at Christmas, so probably no bargains. 6 days in LV is way too long, in my opinion. |
Thanks DebitNM and MichelleY.
DebitNM, do you remember the prices/night from last year? Right now, New York New York is having 20% off + an upgrade to Madison Avenue which would equal to $620/room (all resort fees and taxes included). I think this is pretty good versus other hotels that are on the strip so I might book it for now directly from their site and then wait to see what deals are going on after Thanksgiving. |
Rates vary from year to year based on what day the holidays fall on. This year there is a weekend between Christmas and New Year's so those nights could be pricier than a year when Christmas falls on a Sat Sun and is not as busy.
Flamingo is $535 for remodeled rooms, 2 queens, for six nights. Note that most hotels now charge extra per night for children, even children under 12. |
Sorry, I don't know prices for that time period as we were looking for a January trip. NYE is going to be big $$$ even with sale and those dates might be blacked out from the Black Friday sale. We stayed at The Signature and actually the prices kept going down until just before we got there; glad we had cancellable room. Cosmopolitan had some great prices during the sale, Cyber Monday maybe??

Thanks a lot clarkgriswold and DebitNM! I am going to book the New York New York hotel (refundable deposit and no cancellation fees) and then watch to see if it goes down :)

There are lots of hotels with better discounts than what you mention.
It helps that you sign up for "specials" from the hotels. Here's a current Golden Nugget discount. It's downtown, but is an AAA 4 Diamond hotel. https://bookgnlv.goldennugget.com/cg...):;eb25pct;;?/ |
