Vegas for Upper 20's
 

Hi,

I was wondering what people would suggest as the best casino/hotel for a group of guys in their upper 20's? Being on the strip is a must, so I don't think the Palms will work. Thanks so much!

Totally depends on what you are looking for, amount of $$$ you want to spend, etc. Hard Rock is the first thing that comes too mind though.

Depending on when you are going, the pool scene at Mandalay or Hard Rock is awesome. I was there with a bunch of 20-something ladies in April, and we had a blast. If you click on my name you can read my trip report. Your screen name is kind of nuts because I am a "midwest Liz". ;-)

the hard rock is not on the strip. is having a pool important to you? if so, it depends when you are going. not all hotels have pools year round. and, how much do you want to spend?

The Wynn is the best property on the Strip, by far. If you've got the budget for it, it's a no-brainer.

I'm not too concerned about a pool. The guys are into drinking and gambling and I doubt any will want to swim.

In terms of cost, I was expecting to pay around $1800-$2400 for 3 nights (either 2 or 3 rooms depending on the room setup). I looked at the Venetian and saw some nice rooms, but wasn't sure if this would be a good place for them.

Any other thoughts? Thanks again!

Not arguing about the quality of the Wynn, but I don't see it fitting 20-somethings. Mandalay Bay is very nice but you are at the end of the Strip. Great bars & pool. For a sports book, you can't beat Caesars. The Luxor is now trying to attract the younger set w/their new bar, Chris Angel, etc. If they are big gamblers, by all means have them check out the comp system/players club as soon as they arrive. You may not even have to pay for the rooms.

On the contrary, for that age group, not far from my own, the Wynn is the best option .. fewer families, more "beautiful people," less of the "welfare check" crowd.

And the Wynn has both a top lounge and top nightclub, with easy guest access.

For your specific age group, you will find the best scene at the Hard Rock or the Palms. They're off the strip, but Hard Rock has a shuttle to the strip. The Venetian is fine. I would still recommend you to go to Hard Rock to hang out and go out to the club for your age group if you stay at the Venetian.

And don't worry about staying just a bit off the strip like the above 2 hotels. A cab to the strip is 5 mins and $5-10 depending on where you're going. And there are lines of cabs outside every hotel.

Sorry Gekko - I don't spend much time in the room, when I am in Vegas anyway. Mostly my rooms are comped or discounted. I'm not a high enough roller to get comped at the Wynn + I won't pay their prices (although I have stayed there for free via friends). I just don't see it as a 20-something hangout. I agree w/smartcookie, Hard Rock & Palms are where the "MTV" crowd currently reside (which is why I avoid them as well).

Agree that with your age group you would be much happier at The Palms or The Hard Rock.

Being on the strip isn't that big a deal.

I'd recommend either Caesar's or the Mirage. Both are in a great location. If you go with the Mirage, you may want to check out suite prices on their 2 bedroom suites. You can put more people in the room and get a living room and wet bar which is great for priming up while waiting for everyone to get their act together for the night. I love hanging out at the Hard Rock, but it's simple enough to take a cab there when you want to go.
