Vegas Famous Chef restaurants

my husband and I are going to Vegas in 9 days! YAY! We plan to hit some buffets but we would would like one evening where we eat at a nice restaurant perhaps a well known chefs restaurant. Not interested in Delmonicos or any other strictly steak place though. Any suggestions?

What kind of budget are you talking about? Some of the celebrity chef places will set you back several hundred dollars even before wine or drinks which will make it soar even higher.

Emeril's at MGM comes to mind as one of the more "medium priced" places, and we actually found it to be very good. Bouchon seemed like a major bargain and we really loved the place -- but more of a bistro than a "fancy restaurant". (Bouchon is Thomas Keller's, of the French Laundry fame).

I would plan to stay under $200.

I had thought about Emerils at MGM. Is the seafood that much better than anywhere else?

Check out Wolfgang Puck at Ceasar's Palace, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, and MGM. Go to his website for specifics regarding locations, food, hours and prices.

You may want to try Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill at Caesar's Palace. I would advise you to make reservations for it before you leave as it is usually pretty crowded.

Another good option is Postrio, which is Wolfgang Puck's place in the Venetian (It's in the Canal Shoppes, if I am remembering correctly).

You can keep it under $200 at either of these places.

On my most recent visit, I absolutely loved Daniel Boulud at the Wynn.

Also, I always do Todd English's Olive where we request terrace seating and watch the bellagio water show during dinner.

I must say, we had perhaps the finest meal we've ever had in Vegas at Olives. And it was a fraction of the cost of many of the other places we've eaten. I found it exciting food and a real bargain to boot. Perhaps we mainly just happened to order the right things.

And yes, we did find the seafood at Emeril's really good.

Less well known than many of the above is Michael Mina, whose Nob Hill is at MGM. We loved it a couple years back.

We enjoyed Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in the Bahamas. I assume it is similar in Vegas.
