Vegas Comedy

My husband & I are going to be in Vegas for 4 nights in August. We have tickets to see Love one night & we are interested in seeing a comedy show another night. We are not interested in magic shows. Can anyone recommend a funny show? Thanks

Mac King's afternoon show is hilarious, but he does magic.

I always check at www.vegas.com to see who might be appearing while I'm in Las Vegas. Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Wanda Sykes, Brad Garrett, Chris Rock, Bill Envall, David Spade, and Lewis Black are among the comics who will make appearances in Las Vegas in August, but, perhaps, not on the four nights you are there.

I second Mac Kings afternoon show.

I have also had a great time at the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana.

I am sure there are more but that is my personal experience.

I don't care for magic shows either, but we had free admission coupons, so we went. Let me tell you, Mac King is more about comedy then magic, and easy to watch.

Just check if there are any discount coupons in the local booklets.

Blue Man Group. Not a comedy show per se, but funny none the less.

We've seen 2 comedy shows in Vegas:
Comedy stop at Tropicana, which was great-really funny. and the one at the Flamingo (cant remember what its called) which, in our opinion, was not that great and definately not worth the price. I beleive it was 50 per person, as opposed to 30 per person at Trop). Have fun!

Rita Rudner is great and Roseanne Barr may still be at the Tropicana.

Roseanne Barr is at the Sahara. Other comedians would be George Wallace at the Flamingo. Also Carrot Top at the Luxor and Louie Anderson at the Excalibur. A local favorite is Vinnie Favorito inside of O'Sheas on the Strip. Oops...almost forgot, Bobby Slayton at Hooters. Lots of choices!

George Wallace at the Tropicana. We loved him as did our son in his 20s, so whether you are young or middle-aged, I can recommend him.

Oops sorry for the typo about Roseanne. Indeed she's at the Sahara.

Also Carrot Top is hilarious, you can get tickets half off at the 1/2 off sales center in the Fashion Show mall & other strip locations. I think Rita Rudner is discounted too.

We really enjoyed the "Wayne Brady Show: Making Sh@t up!!" Very entertaining. It is at the Venetian.

I would highly recommend the Amazing Jonathan.

Thought it strange that my wife was able to get front row seats. I was then picked to be on stage for the entire show. Thank goodness, I had seen the show prior.

But, a great and entertaining show.

Vinnie Favorito!! We saw him in October and he is hysterical!! He does all improv - he makes it up as he goes by picking on people in the audience. Mean, Yes but true. It is vulgar but SO funny!! It is in a little room above O'sheas Casino (next to Flamingo) You can find a 2 for 1 coupon in the coupon books.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! It's great to have some good tips!

Maybe Ani is referring to the Second City show at the Flamingo. I saw that and don't think it is worth it. Not worth the time, I mean. Got admission with comp tickets. So for me it was just a waste of time, not money (price is $49 and change).

I've seen George Wallace at the Flamingo twice. He is definitely a funny guy. I got comp tix for that show, too. Paying $75 is a bit of a stretch I think, but ok, esp. if you are staying there or near by. Look for a discount.

Carrot Top is really a funny guy. Funny as in "ha ha" and the other way. I paid for this show and it was worth it. I didn't know what to expect. My general thought was that he would be more of a wise guy, cutting jokes, negative humor. But he surprised me with some silly stuff and self-deprecating humor.

Vinny Favorito is also a funny guy. He makes fun of just about everybody in the place. He asks audience members a bit about themselves and then makes cracks about the people. Or maybe he just finds something funny about how they look, who they are with. Or racial and other stereotype cracks. Glad I sat in the back because he didn't pick on me! On another day I might be happy to be up in the front, in the mix.

Vinny is amazingly quick and creative. I wouldn't recommend paying a lot of money to see his show. It is a small place with maybe 50 or so people in the audience. In fact, I had comp tix and got there just as the show was starting. Nobody collected our tickets and we just walked in and sat down.

Luckily, I saw George Carlin on June 15 and would recommend seeing his show, but he won't be coming back.

Have you seen Carrot Top? It cracked me up!
