vegas cirque recommendation?

My husband, our 2 18 yr old sons, and I are heading to Vegas the 1st week in April. We are planning to see a cirque show, all of us having very much enjoyed the cirque show in Orlando. Which would you recommend, and why?

Thanks,

Karen

O. The use of water and the pool which was constructed just for the show makes it a totally uniqe experience which won't be going on the road. I hate spending Vegas prices for tickets, but have been to see it twice. And I'd go back a third time! We had a pre-show dinner in a restaurant just outside the theatre and it wasn't cheap, but it was a bargain and very good(sorry- can't remember the name, but I'm sure the hotel can tell you about what's available)

We've been to several cirque shows, and I think the two we enjoyed most were O and Mystere. Both are good in different ways - you won't go wrong with either.

How about Ka?

Sorry.. i hit return before I was done. It looks like there are no O shows the week we are in Vegas. Any comments on Ka?

Saw Ka last year. We liked it a lot, including our teen-aged son. I can't remember the details of the show other than we really enjoyed it. The theatre is small and you really can't get a bad seat, but if we go again sitting middle or slightly towards the back makes it easier to look up at aerial things going on above you.

So far, our favorite, by far, is Mystere. We saw that one first, as is usually recommended.

All the Cirque Shows are a bit different. If you and/or the kids enjoy Beatles Music - check out "Love" at the Mirage. You might want to take a look at the soundtrack before deciding.

If you really have no preference, since there are four of you, you may want to check ticket prices, particularly the discounts available during your visit. There are a LOT of discounts available that week online. Start with www.travelzoo.com, then www.smartervegas.com

Also, consider Terry Fator! He is magnificent. You can view highlights of his show on his website. (He's the ventroliquist who won America's Got Talent). There are excellent seats available with significant discount here:

We didn't like Ka at all. Somehow it just didn't live up to the other cirque performances we've seen. It even had a baton twirler!

Le Rêve would be my pick - It is the creation of Franco Dragone who was a huge factor in the success of the Cirque du Soleil's shows.

The theater was build for the show and is just stunning.

I have seen all the Cirque shows in Vegas (except Zumanity). Mystere is my favorite, followed by LOVE, "O" and Ka! I have seen them all more than once except for Ka!

I would choose Mystere or LOVE.

We saw Mystere twice over two trips. One performance was excellent and the other time it was only so-so. I guess even cirque performers can have an off night.

O is my favorite by far. Saw Ka last year and sorry to say, dozed off for a few minutes.

I re-checked our flight times, and O is actually playing the day of our arrival. There are 2 shows that night, at 7:30 and 10:30. Our flight is due in from Ohio at 2;30 LV time. My concern is that, if I buy tickets online now and our flight somehow is delayed more than a couple of hours, we will miss the 7:30 show. The 10:30 show is playing at 1:30 am for our traveling brains, and I'm afraid that is just too late for my husband and me (although the 18 yr old boys are often still up and raring to go at that time!)

Anyhow, should we pre-purchase O tickets with the risk of not making it to the show because of flight delays, risk being too tired to enjoy a later show, or try to purchase the tickets to O in Vegas? Or, should we just pass on O and do Mystere?

We had the same decision to make on our last trip. Since almost every trip we make these days seems to have flight delays or bad weather, we decided NOT to book an expensive show the arrival night, just in case we arrived late.

I'd advise you do Mystere... it was our favorite over O. We ALL loved Mystere.

Mystere in Las Vegas and Wicked in New York enjoy a degree of popularity that I don't understand.

I've been going to Cirque du Soleil productions for over twenty years, and my favorite by far is "O." However, I do not recommend seeing it under the conditions you outline. There is a lot to take in and it is expensive.

My choice would be Love or Le Rêve, if I could get tickets for the early show.

(I should add that highlights of Mystere include routines I saw at the Russian Circus in the 50s and 60s and in Cirque productions in the early 80s. Perhaps they are more exciting if you've never seen them before. Also, when I saw Mystere I must have been there with Jada on a night when it was just so-so.)
