Vegas, baby!

I am going to Vegas for the first time for 3 nights (for my 40th birthday).

I would like to go and see Elton John at Caesar's. When buying tickets, is there a cheap but legit way of doing this or is it best to go through ticketmaster or Caesar's direct? Also, can you leave until nearer the time in Feb or do they sell out instantly? I've looked at Caesar's website and they say tickets aren't available yet - not sure if to do with being sold out or just not on sale yet.

Also, any advice re. helicopter over grand canyon please?

Thanks
WW

I will not suggest this but a lot of people while in Vegas get same tickets the day of the concert at 50 % at the booths along the strip.

These are usually tickets that are not sold in advance.

I would try and buy them in advance on line at the 2 places you asked about.

Sometimes you can get a deal through your hotel...ask the concierge.

Recommend signing up at Caesar's website so you'll receive notification when tickets go on sale. I recently received a pre-sale notification with code for Bette Midler's upcoming show dates, but don't recall where I signed up for that and didn't save the e-mail as we've seen that show already.

I don't think you'll find tickets at the 1/2 price booths for Elton.

I doubt you can buy discount tickets for this show. We saw Elton in Aug and really enjoyed the show! I recommend going to the Caesers website and buying your tix now.

we used Viator for our helicopter to the Grand Canyon and it was amazing. Highly recommend it.

you won't get discounted tickets for elton john. buy as soon as you can.

I am pretty sure that his run at Caesar's ends in February 2009 so you may want to make sure he is even still performing when you are scheduled to visit. If so, best to go through ticketmaster or Caesar's site. These will be his last few concerts there and you will not be able to get discounted tickets.

I strongly recommend not buying the tickets online if you don't have to. Have the seating chart available and call and talk to a human. You will get a choice of seats that way.

Have taken on board everyone's advice, so thank you. Rang them (rather than going on line as I like an aisle seat) and am now the proud owner of 2 tickets to see Elton on my 40th birthday itself in Vegas. Doesn't get much better than that! Thank you all....

Now onto the helicopter trip!

We used Papillon Helicopters..Friendly & informative.
They pick up & return from your hotel.
Our Irish pilot was lots of fun & we all sang(yelled) Elvis songs on the way back.Nice touch was a champagne & food basket when we touched down at the bottom and watched the sunset..Just awesome!!

Have booked Papillon as they come recommended. Shopped around the prices are all much of a muchness so went with the recommendation.

Thank you to all for your help. I now have the most awesome 40th birthday to look forward to.

Helicopters don't go as far as the south rim. airplanes do, like on some tours offered by looktours.com (among others, maybe Papillon). Fly to GCY and then bus to a couple of the finest view points.
