I would think you'd want 2 nights in the Grand Canyon - 1 just wouldn't be enough - by time you factor in travel time. Plus with an infant you'd want to be less rushed...

Vegas with a kid is possible - I took my 5yr old recently. I don't know how much there is to do with an 11 month old.. but I have no doubt you'll find fun. The babysitter thing scares me though - I couldn't do it!

Which is exactly my point.
If you're not going to put the life of your child in the hands of some temp agency, you're stuck with very few options for entertainment in LV.

I did some more research into the babysitting services and the staff have all been fingerprinted by the FBI, etc. I worked at a daycare center at a ski resort when I was back in college and strangers left their kids (even babies) with us all the time. I had to trust my daycare provider the first time I used her and she had the same clearance these providers in LV will have. I have invited my parents to join us for the trip ... hopefully they will come along but probably not. And no Chris, of course we won't go swimming unless the temperature is warm enough. Much of what we do will depend on the weather once we arrive. Also, I never said I expect him to enjoy the experience of V and the GC ... of course he is too young. What he will enjoy is being with Mommy and Daddy 90%-100%% of the day (versus being in daycare 9 hours per day Monday-Friday), going to new parks and play areas, seeing new things, and meeting new people ... Mommy and Daddy will be less stressed and distracted then they are at home on the weekends when there are a million chores to be done. I do envision having lots of quality time together. We'll probably get a baby sitter for three evenings for about three hours each time and otherwise, he will be with us, walking around the non-smoking (non-loud) areas indoors and outdoors, playing in the parks and in the condo, and dining out with us at kid-friendly places. Plus we have a kitchen in our condo. He'll keep us from spending more time than we should gambling ... and then there is the trip to the Grand Canyon ... he currently loves car rides and hopefully still will in 3 months -- Debbie
