Vancouver or New Orleans?
I know -- it's apples and oranges. But my husband and I want to spend our vacation in a city with cool nature stuff nearby, and these two cities seem to fit the bill.

So -- which would you pick? Is N.O. too sleazy? We're not big party people.

New Orleans, LA and Vancouver, BC are poles apart in almost any category of interest you can imagine. The biggest difference is in "cool nature stuff".
Vancouver. We were there last Spring. For outdoorsy types it's paradise. Biking through Stanley Park is great. We took the tram up to the top of Grouse Mtn and hiked around. Plenty to do. N.O. is a frat party.
Vancouver...the US $ goes really far. Lots of green space to explore. Tons of restaurants to try. The arts scene is okay too.
Susan, this choice doesn't make any sense. Both cities are wonderful but have ABSOLUTELY nothing in common. It is like asking "should we go to Scotland or Thailand?" And what "cool nature stuff" do you think is near NO?
I love both cities, but for "cool nature stuff," I'd definitely go to Vancouver. If you're in the States, your dollar will go much further as well. A ferry ride out to Vancouver Island or a drive up to Whistler will take you through some of the most beautiful landscape on the planet.
Only cool nature stuff I know of near New Orleans is gators, swamps and bugs.
New Orleans wins in the "fun" category (get off Bourbon and it's not what I call "sleazy") but Vancouver is beautiful. I'd still choose N.O. based on things to do, however.
