Valley of Fire

How hot is the temperature in the Valley of Fire about the middle of March? We plan to hike and wonder what the weather will be.

Sounds pretty hot to me. Where is it? I have never heard of this place.

We are planning a trip to Vegas in May and several posts have recommended seeing the Valley of Fire--about an hour drive from Vegas. This is a web site we found about the Valley
www.sunsetcities.com/valleyoffire.html

March is usually pretty nice in Vegas, maybe a bit windy.

Not sure how much of that will carry over into the Valley of Fire though.
According to Nevada State Parks website, Spring and Fall are the preferred times to visit (climate wise). It is listed as not hotter than 75 in Winter and hotter than 100 in summer, so I imagine somewhere closer to the 75 mark at that time of year.
Apparently the name is not from the heat but from the red rocks in the park.

Got some pictures in the bottom (I think) album at http://community.webshots.com/user/bookhall . We found it accidently--it's about 55 miles NE of Las Vegas. Very nifty....

I went to the Valley of Fire last February. The weather was a little chilly but beautiful. You should have great weather. The rocks are a gorgeous red. Lots of places to hike and camp. There is a really neat shop with stones and torquoise at the entrance to the park. The prices are very very good, and the people are very nice. Enjoy. There also is a park closer to Vegas called Red
Rock Canyon. Its also very nice with lots of hiking trails. Recommend both.
