We are taking a last minute weekend trip to Valley Forge. Does anyone have a favorite restaurant in the area to recommend?

I travel to this area often for business and find the CALIFORNIA CAFE located IN the King of Prussia Mall (just down the hwy less than 4 miles) appealing to everyone's tastes and pocketbook. Sullivan's Steakhouse also at the Mall is a bit more upscale, but excellent dining. Have fun.

You'll be a little 'out there' in terms of restaurants, but if you have time to get to one of the western suburbs you'll have more choices. In Wayne -- where there's even a Georges Perrier outpost -- there's Tacquet in the Wayne Hotel, Teresa's Cafe and Christopher's that I can think of offhand.

I live in the area. It would help to know if you want something right in KofP, or are willing to travel a bit. Also, kids? romantic? cheap? ethnic? bust the budget?

Sorry for a chain submission but I can't help myself - Maggiano's in the K of P Mall has tremendous, heavy, Italian food. Everyone leaves stuffed, with a doggie bag and always return for more.

Thanks for the great suggestions. We are actually staying in Conshohocken, and would be willing to drive a bit. One restaurant we've been to in the area is Killian's, which we enjoyed, if that helps. No kids. Actually, wish I could say it was a romantic get-away, but for this trip, it's more, getting out, after hip replacement surgery!! I figure I can do a little walking, and then wheelchair and drive through the park. Obviously walking will be an issue.

opps, I think the restaurant I meant in the post above is called Kildare's. It reminded me of a place we went to in England.

There was a review in the Phila Inquirer this past Sun. about a great, new BYOB restaurant in Conshohocken. It sounded nice but the only thing I remember about the name was that the owner named it after his daughter.

At King of Prussia Mall there is also a Morton's steakhouse that is very good and very expensive. IMHO, Maggiano's is huge portions of average food, and what on earth do travelers do with tons of leftovers? Conshohocken has undergone a "revolution" and is now filled with interesting restaurants, cafes and bars. I've heard good things about Stella Blu, but have never been there. I recently ate at Spring Mill Cafe and felt it was highly overrated, with mediocre food and amateur service (perhaps an off night?), which is disappointing in a very expensive restaurant. There's a diner right on the main drag in Conshohocken (Fayette St., I think) that I haven't eaten at but that has a sign in the window that says "featuring Rindelaub's baked goods". That would be worth a stop just for their german chocolate cake, a Philadelphia tradition (Rindelaub's Bakery was for decades a fixture of the center city scene). In Wayne, Le Mas features the high quality cuisine of Perrier (Le Bec Fin), but in a country bistro setting with, thanks to their new, more casual menu, a much more affordable price tag. Nearby, in Bryn Mawr, Yang Ming offers about the finest elegant Chinese food around. Enjoy your visit!

Also, LoisL, if you haven't left yet.... near to Conshohocken is Manayunk where Main Street is full of shopping and restaurants. Oh, and also Totaro's on Hector Street in Conshohocken has very good Italian food.Have fun.

Right in Conshohocken is the Fayette Street Grille. It's a WONDERFUL BYOB. Three course fixed price--very reasonable and great food. You will need a reservation. Right down the road from Valley Forge Park is Creeds. It was the Baron's Inn for quite a while.Great seafood and steaks.
