Vail lodge vs Sonnenalps Hotel

I'd appreciate any opinions about about the Vail Lodge or Sonnenalps hotel. I'd love info about them and also any restaurant recommendations in or around Vail would be great!

Vail Lodge has a pool, better views of the mountain and a very nice restaurant (Wildflower), but I like the atmosphere at the Sonnenalp more. Bully Ranch in the Sonnenalp is a good casual restaurant.

Sweet Basil is probably the best/nicest restaurant in town, but there are many others. Any food preferences?

we'll be there for 3-4 days so casual and fine dinning suggestions would be great. Any thoughts on the Arrabelle?

I've stayed at the Sonnenalp twice. It's really lovely and I can highly recommend.

We walked through the Arrabelle last March. We didn't see any of the sleeping rooms. It's very nice and just steps away from the Lionshead gondola and ice rink.

But as nice as Lionshead has become with all the reconstruction and more appealing architecture, etc., I still prefer Vail Village. (We've been skiing annually at Vail for more than 30 years.)

However, my all-time favorite casual restaurant in Vail is in Lionshead. Bart & Yeti's:

We attend an event at the Sonnenalp every June. It is a very nice and classy place. Ask for a room overlooking the river.

Cheryl,

Just came back from Vail where we ate in great restaurant called "Up the Creek". It is in the Vail village. Enjoy!

I second the recommendation for Up the Creek. I also recommend Blu's which is just a few doors away.
