Vail Hotel
 

Hi - we are going to Vail begining of August just for 2 nights. Can anyone recommend a hotel that is walkable to shops/restaurants. We prefer a more luxury hotel. I was also told there is a lot of construction going on in Vail right now (not sure how accurate that is), so not near a construction site would be great!

My husband and I spent four nights in Vail last July. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. We stayed at the Sonnenalp and LOVED it. It is very pricey, but we really enjoyed it. We could walk to all the shops and restaurants in Vail Village. Breakfast was included in the price (one of the best breakfasts we've ever had) and I look forward to staying there again (maybe next year). I can highly recommend the Sonnenalp.

Since we were there a year ago, I don't know about construction.

Either one would be a good choice, but I'd opt for the Sonnenalp.

We stayed at the Hyatt Beaver Creek-beautiful! Great lobby fireplace/ bar area. Also I believe the spa there is one of the best!

There are many hotels that would fit your needs. A nice little gem on top of Bridge St. is the Christiania. Pool, close to the action and probably much more reasonable than the others. Save your $$ and spend it on activities or a fine meal at Larkspur, which is only a few 100 yards away. BTW the construction is real, but it is really not all that bad. The sky is still blue, the sun shines and there is always something to do.

Gasthof Gramshammer in the center of the Village. European-style boutique hotel.

The Lodge at Vail. RockResorts-owned. Name the amenity, hotel's got it.

I am in Vail right now. The Sonnenalp is under construction, and I would avoid it. None of the hotels in Vail are air-conditioned, and it is very warm here during the day. I would recommend staying in Beaver Creek. If you want something really special and luxurious, you m ight try the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch. It is not within walking distance of anything, but they run a free shuttle back and forth all the time and on demand. The Hyatt is right in the village of Beaver Creed, and is a good choice, as is the Beaver Creek Lodge. If you have your heeart set on Vail, try the Lodge at Vail or the Mountainhaus. They are right in the Village.

None of the hotels in Vail have air-conditioning. Surely you jest.

Beaver Creek would also be an excellent choice, but it is only a few hundred feet (at the most) higher than Vail, so don't know why it'd be much cooler. While day time temps ( Vail Valley) can get into the 80's, it cools off significantly at night.

When I was researching our trip to Vail last summer, the only hotel I could find with air conditioning was the Sonnenalp. That is one reason why I chose it. Of course, after staying there, I was very happy I made that choice!

Many of the hotels in Beaver Creek are not air conditioned. The Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek has no ac. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek for two nights and it was beautiful. The RC is air conditioned.

Just wanted to throw in my two cents about the ac. It did get warm in Vail during the day and I am glad we had the AC.
