Jef I am not that familiar with condos in Vail, But I think that Chateua Vail and Evergreen will be closer to the village, The Raquet Club is in east Vail which will require a shuttle or drive to the lifts. I would pick one within walking distance to the Village if you can.

Jef,

I would check on the Chateau Vail - the Holiday Inn used to be called the HI Chateau Vail and closed a year or two ago. The Evergreen is a nice hotel - used to be part of the Doubletree chain so is that level of accomm. Its about 1/2 way between Lionshead and the Village - about 500 yards to lifts. Theres a free town bus system that will take you closer. Walkable to restaurants and shops. The VRC is in East Vail on the free bus system but is a few miles from the town and slopes. Their units are full condos though vs. the hotel rooms of the Evergreen.

The town's easily walkable with a ton of restaurants. Best bet is to walk around and see what looks good.

Thanks for all your help everyone.
Any recommendations for dinner spots. Is Chateau Vail a nice place? Close to trails? thanks again.

We stayed at the Vail Racquet Club this summer. I would choose the Chateau or Evergreen over the Racquet Club. It is too far out of the Village and right on the interstate. We had to change rooms because I could not sleep due to the interstate noise. Our new room was fine but I would not stay there again.
