vacation villa in kauai?
My husband and I would like to go to Kauai for our next vacation. We are looking for a private villa/cottage in a lush tropical setting. Privacy and seclusion are our priorities(a clothing optional location). We're not anti-social, just don't want to feel obligated to socialize with neighbors. Will spend up to $2000 per week on accomodations. A pool would be a plus but not mandatory. I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone has. Thanks in advance for the help!

Jofus: We stayed here last month and just loved the place. www.secrebeachkauai.com
You can see more of my info on my trip report and a link to many photos including wedding photos that were taken on the property. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...n_name=Nancy03
There are many pictures too. There is your own private jacuzzi and an outside shower put the inside shower you can get to from inside the bathroom or through sliding doors like it is a walk through from inside to outside. We had not problems walking about our cottege sans clothing from the jacuzzi to the shower etc. There is a LONG driveway that this cottege and another use but in the 5 days we were there, we only saw the other couple driving by 2 times.
The place felt very initimate. And it's beautiful.
While at the beach below ( a beautiful 10 minute walk, there were several nude people, even though it is not permitted on any Hawaiian beaches.
Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thanks for the input Nancy03. Those villas all look fabulous and along the lines of what I'm looking for but they're all about $1000 or more over my budget. I do appreciate the reply though. More suggestions are certainly welcome.

The large "estate" type vacation rentals are usually handled by rental companies here on Kaua`i. You might want to check a few of them...
kauaivacationrentals.com
kauai-vacation-rentals.com
granthamresorts.com
princeville-vacations.com/
aninialoha.com/
Be sure to let the rental agent know that you are seeking a "clothing optional" location -- don't wanna surprise the neighbors! quot;>

Aloha auntiemaria ! I have read many of your posts you give excellent tips. I'm not looking for a large estate type. I'd prefer a small cottage or villa. I have been to all the sites you reccommended and seen some places that I've requested info on. Any other suggestions you have will be greatly appreciated! Thanks and Happy Trails!

When I began looking, I too looked at all of these sites. The problem was that even though the pictures look like the house is alone there is usually another "house" right next door - in a neighbor or near the road.
The one I found above was about it. I know a friend sent me a place that looked pretty neat. I'll contact him and get back to you.

I'd also recommend kauaivacationrentals.com. We rented a condo in June from them and they were very helpful and the website is great--tons of good photos and descriptions, and lots of properties, with some beautiful high end ones I couldn't afford but drooled over anyway.

I have spent literally days looking, browsing, drooling over, and researching vacation rentals in Kauai for upcoming trips. The agents that roxy and auntie gave are the best and have the best selection. We are renting one through na pali properties and one through kauaivacationrentals. A house with a pool is going to cost you at least $2500.00 a week or more. One place I came across that you might want to look into is: http://lbksonline.com/English/houses.htm
Good Luck!

Answer from my friend: "the name of the place is the Gillan House. It is a beautiful, private, home isolated on its own beach, near Poipu Beach (Gillan Beach?) in SE Kauai. It was rented out through a local real estate broker. We stayed there with friends from LA who rented it back in June of 2000.
The problem is, it used to have its own web site, that I can't locate now. Maybe the owners are no longer renting it on a month or less basis.
Too bad if their not, it's a fabulous place, and we wanted to go back there.
You might have this person ask about the Gillan House if they plan on booking through someone locally on Kauai."

I found it. THE GILLIN BEACH HOUSE is the only home in the entire Maha'ulepu Valley.
