Vacation to Maine

I want to plan a vacation to Maine for me and my husband sometime next year. He is very much into the outdoors, hunting and fishing. I also enjoy fishing. Could anyone give me some tips and also things that they have seen that they enjoyed/didn't enjoy. We live in Wisconsin and would be driving out there. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks.

I just got back after a lovely trip from Maine. Had been to Acadia NP on Mt. Desert Island. If you like outdoors and nature, you'll just fall in love with the place. I dont know much about hunting and fishing. If you need any info about the NP,let me know and I'd be glad to help out.

Better than any website(s), especially since you are not going until sometime next year, is "Maine, An Explorer's Guide" - an absolutely incredible resource for visiting Maine.

With this, you can determine what YOU would find most enjoyable...

This is one amazing tour guide, especially for scenic drives, lodging and dining (only a small percentage have websites even these days), seeing and doing, directions to all the magnificent lighthouses - everything!

Yes as djkbooks has suggested, the guidebooks should be very helpful. I found a lot of information about the NP on fodors itself and also on this website www.acadiamagic.com apart from the National Park Service website which is http://www.nps.gov/acad/...you should be able to find a wealth of information if you google for acadia...As for lodging, I stayed at Bar Harbor...very nice, charming and quaint little town..lots of good places to eat on the main street..Hope this helps! Have fun..

The Rangely Lake area is another possibility for fishing if you want fresh water. If you want to do deep sea fishing for a day, many of the tourist towns along the coast have charters. Bring $$!

Hey there, there is a lot to do in Maine, especially if you like hunting and fishing. Check out the Sporting Journal, it's one of my favorite Maine Magazines, lot's of good links off their site. http://www.sportingjournal.com.
I guess it depends what type of fishing that you are interested in, do you have a preference?? Salt Water, Fly fishing, bass fishing, etc???
