Vacation suggestions

Hi,
My husband and I are looking to go away Mid-March for a relaxing 5 day/4 night beach vacation. I will be 7 months pregnant then, so we probably won't be doing much exploring or too many activities. Mainly lounging at a pretty beach/and pool, and eating meals in restaurants (we don't want to cook our own meals!) Any suggestions for locations or resorts in Florida? I was trying to find a place we could take a direct flight to (from NYC) so we wouldn't have to change planes.
Thanks in advance for your advice,

Leslie.

Leslie, some airlines (and your ob/gyn) will not let you fly at 7 months pregnant.

If you can fly, go to South Florida. Boca, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or Naples.

By-the-by, "x", airlines don't get involved in a pregnant person's decision to fly. If you and your OB say it's OK, it's OK.

Wow, I can't get over how 'friendly' everyone is on this message board. I sense a lot of tension here, I think I will look elsewhere for advice. Thanks anyways.

The airlines DO get involved with a pregnant person flying or not. When my father died, I was 7 1/2 months and the USAir would not let me fly. I had to drive. The liability is so great for the airlines.

Leslie, don't be discouraged by a few rude and thoughtless people. Actually, most people are very helpful . I've had great and useful advice on this board .
I can't help you with your question, but have a good time and enjoy your vacation !

Sorry for the replies you've gotten so far Leslie.
If you are allowed to fly - then I would suggest the gulf coast. The beaches are beautiful and not as wild as the Miami area. Also the panhandle is a nice choice too. Hope this helps you out somewhat.

Check with your OB/GYN. My wife and I went to Hawaii from NYC in 2000 when she was 7 months without a problem.

IMHO, I think the beaches on the Gulf Coast of Florida are much nicer than those on the East Coast. Most of the major tourist cities in Florida do have direct flights from all the major NYC airports.

Although it has been several years since I've been, the Marriott in Key Largo was nice. It's about a hour drive from Miami and sits on the Gulf Coast side of the island.

There are also several nice beach areas that run from Tampa down to Naples. Really just a question of your price range.

There is no way I would fly at 7 months pregnant with the risk of clots...

Anyplace in South Florida should be very nice.

Check which airlines have hubs at LGA, Newark, and JFK and fly on one of those airlines. That way you will not have to change flights.

Congrats on the pregnancy!

Mid-March is the middle of the college spring break season. You might want to go to the caribbean just to escape them. Or maybe go to the college celebration and see what your little one will be doing in 20 years.

If you want to stay in the US (might be good in case of a health care problem) I would say gulf side, Sanibel area. Shelling isn't a big draw for the drunken college crowd.

Congrats on the pregnancy.
