Vacation renter's rights
 

I heard that some renters in Florida were having trouble with their rentals being sold while they were there. As a result, they were forced to leave the property. Have you heard of this happening? If so, what have people done about it?

Kelly a lease (rental) always is a contingency in a sales contract. Unless the rental agreement was not in writing. Alot of leases state the property cannot even be shown during the lease period, or if the renters agree at only certain times. I have never heard of any being forced to leave a rental--unless it was part of the rental agreement in the first place

It depends what the lease says. Most (good) leases will have a non-disturbance provision protecting the lessee in the event of a sale or foreclosure.

Generally, if the new owner is going to move into the place the tenant can be evicted. If the new owner isn't going to use it themselves the tenant can stay.

It's purely, 100%, a contract issue.
