vacation in southern maine

My husband and I are going to wells, maine for a week and wondered if there were suggestions for restaurants in the area. We especially like seafood, but are open to any cuisine. Also looking for suggestions for super lobster rolls!

Joshua's for fine dining, Maine Diner for casual.

thank you! What would you recommend we do/see in the area? We enjoy seeing the sights of the area but are not physically active-no biking/kayaking,etc.

There is a nice 90 minute boat ride out of Perkins Cove, Ogunquit to see the Nubble Light House or you can do a 60 minute lobster boat ride.......both are fun. Barnacle Billy's, the casual one, is a great inexpensive place to get a burger or cup of chowder, right at the Cove.
Counter service and sit inside or out.
Loved Mike's Clam Shack in Wells for fried clams and lobster salad.
Also liked Oarweed in Perkins Cove.
If you like a little bit of walking, the Marginal Way is a really nice walk out of Perkins Cove, maybe about a mile or so. You see the beautiful ocean on one side and pretty houses and hotels on the other.
You can take a ride to Cape Elizabeth (I think that's what it is called) about 20 or 30 minutes from Wells. Beautiful area and a great little restaurant .........think it's called The Shack. It's counter service and you can either sit inside or outside on picnic tables overlooking the ocean........really pretty view. They have great lobster salad and also crab salad.
Kenneybunk and Kenneybunk Port are both nice areas, cute little shops, nice views.

Fisherman's Catch in Wells is super-casual and yummy. Mike's is good too but always packed to the rafters. Beach Plum Lobster is bring-your-own-utensils but cheaper lobsters. Perkins Cove Lobster Pound in Ogunquit will cook lobsters for you and they are reasonable...if you have kitchen/dining facilties at your rental.

Merriland Farms Café (on a golf course) for a great breakfast or lunch.

Take a ride out to the Shapleigh/ Lake Lovell area one afternoon , Ted's Fried clams is on the way, and on the way back don't miss Shain's Ice Cream (which also has a good lobster roll). Cape Porpoise is also a nice drive, and there's a lobster wharf and a couple of restaurants.

If you're after a good lobster roll with a little sight seeing I always recommend The Rising Tide in Pine Point (part of Scarborough). The small ramshackle restaurant is located right on the Nonesuch River which flows immediately into the ocean. Inside and outside dining. Lobster roll comes with a choice of two good sides. You sit there (inside or outside) and watch lobster boats coming and going, local kids fishing for crabs and others putting in and taking out their water craft. It's located right behind the Pine Point fishermen's Co-Op...which is interesting to visit as well. This would be about a leisurely 40 minute drive from Wells. Free public parking and a nice little beach to sit upon as well. Pop into the nearby gift store for excellent fudge, local crafts and nice gifts. Nice destination afternoon!!!)
