Vacation for 20 year old couple?

My son and his girlfriend want to go away this summer, and every hotel I've tried in Myrtle Beach won't allow anyone under 21 or 25 to check in. Any other good places you can recommend for them, and that will allow them to check into a hotel? Thanks!

You may want to hint at where you live, so that others can know what is at least realistic and convenient to your (son's) location.

Perhaps because Myrtle Beach can be somewhat of an irresponsible "Spring Break" kind of destination, you will have better luck in many other spots.

I shudder to think that 18+-year-old "adults" would have to go very far just to rent a room for a night (or five).

There are MANY places where under 21's can't book. Not just Myrtle Beach. Are they 'camping-types' . . . that would solve their problem.

Many hotels - esp in resort areas - will not rent to under 21s - due to all of the risks of parties and damages. You would probably do better in a non resort area and in a more upscale hotel (but they may not want to pay for that).

You might consider having them put a hold on YOUR credit card as a guarantee - and explaining that it's a romantic trip for a couple - not a pack of friends.

I live in NJ and did ask some of the hotels in Myrtle Beach if I can put it on my credit card-they wouldn't allow it. I also explained that it is just them, and they want a nice romantic trip before he heads back to college. They gave me 3 hotels that allow 18 to check in, but they are not nice and have bad reviews. They are now thinking of Jamaica, Sunset Beach Resort, Spa & Waterpark in Montego Bay. They definitely rather be in an upscale hotel, but the nicer ones aren't allowing check in unless they are 21 or 25.

You might try vrbo.com. There may be a studio or 1 bedroom condo for rent by owner.

I think vrbo is going to present same issues.

I would try airbnb.com instead; the folks that rent there seem a bit more relaxed and open to younger travelers.

We have rented to condo's thru them [we are not younger travelers] and had great experience. Each rental of course, is unique, so read carefully. Read the reviews, check the cancellation policy etc.

Thank you both so much, but I just booked their vacation to Jamaica. It works out to be cheaper also due to it being all inclusive, and no taxis to worry about to and from the airport.
