VA to Prague - Nice, France to VA

I'm in SW Virginia, near Roanoke. Haven't received my Passport yet, but my son is in Europe thru 3 April and I would love to join him. Afraid to make a reservation for fear I won't get the passport. On-line says I should get it on or about 19 March. Just in case, which is the best (least expensive) city to leave FROM? Roanoke or Richmond, VA; Greensboro, NC; or the Washington, DC area?

DESTINATION: Prague, Bratislava or Vienna? (or somewhere close).

Last stop is Monaco. He's leaving from Nice, Fr. via Zurich; I would most likely leave from Nice also.

Hoping I can find a "reasonable" fare within a couple of days after receiving my passport.

Any information much appreciated!

Mildred

Go to www.itasoftware.com, enter the site as a guest, and try different itineraries to see which is least expensive. You'll have to spend some time to learn how the site works, so be prepared. Good luck.

Though most of us on Fodor's plan our travel independently, this may be an occasion to use a good travel agent.

Whoa, Mildred! I see you've posted this, or similar, questions three times. Instead of starting a new post each time, just click on your username in blue at the top of the page to the right of the word "welcome," look on the left hand side of the page to see your previous threads, and add to one of those. This will keep all of your info in one thread instead of scattering it all over the site.

Betsey,
Thanx for the info!
Can I delete what I've done at this point...or IF I understand what you just said, should I just go and duplicate (?) that...and hope it's "threaded"?

IMo you'll get the cheaper fares if you are willing to leave from somewhere like Dulles.

Leaving from Richmond, or Roanoke, or Greensboro will almost undoubtedly necessitate flying INTO some sort of "gateway" city and changing there and that will probably add to the cost.

IMO using the itasoftware site is a good idea.

You're on the right track. Just continue to reply to this thread. Leave the others alone and they'll soon sink out of sight. It's not possible to delete them at this point.

Mildred is new to Fodor's and like many others before her is getting used to posting.

It can be tricky, but I am sure she'll get the hang of it!

Actually, I was the one to suggest that she post this on both US and Europe boards. She had originally posted it on airlines and I suggested she repost it with better topic name and on other boards; feeling she would get more replies.

Mildred -- unfortunately, you cannot delete a thread once it has been posted. Don't worry about the fact that the question is on the other boards as well. Not all Fodor folks reply to same boards. For example, I rarely answer questions on Europe board but do answer here on US board.

It is simply casting a wider net for more answers.

I would check the airlines board post, but would concentrate on Us and Europe board threads and answer accordingly.

I don't think being on 2 boards with same question is necessarily a bad thing.

Good point, Deb.

Mildred's moving up the learning curve quickly!
