UV Clothes for Arizona, Utah Trip?
I'm leaving in a month (early June) for a one week trip to Bryce Canyon, Zion and Sedona (with a stop in GC).
I was telling a friend about the trip and he was quite surprised I hadn't purched a wardrobe of UV blocking long-sleeved shirts and pants. I did purchase a wide-brimmed hat and planned to lather up with SPF 30 lotion. What have others done? Thanks. |
People I know who live in Arizona and spend lots of time outdoors own some UV-blocking clothing, but since the UV block wears off in the wash eventually, they mostly do what you plan to do. Plus, you're only going for a week, so unless you think you'll use the things a lot, I'd stick with shady hat, lots of sunblock, and some light long-sleeved shirts and long pants or skirts for additional protection. (I like the zip-off pants, for flexibility.)

I'll consider a skirt but I'm not sure if ankle length will get in the way.
I'd hate to fall over the edge. |
Hi Myer,
If you are fair skinned and untanned, you actually might want a higher sunblock - like 45. Just be sure to put it on more than once a day and you'll be fine. |
Dayle,
Not a bad idea for most people. I live in South Florida, golf every weekend, don't have fair skin and am not untanned. |
Myer,
You'll be fine with the sun then! The big thing you will notice is the dry climate. Bring skin moisturizing lotion, for lips too! Carry far more water than you think you will ever need - and drink it. We have lots of Florida skiers who come to Park City and the altitude and dryness really gets them. Have a fun trip! |
