Utica, NY Restaurant Question
 

Does anyone have any recommendations of a good Italian Restaurant in Utica? How about the best pizza in Utica? Any other favorites?

Will be in the Utica area from 7/11 - 7/14 and was just wanting some suggestions.

Grimaldi's used to be known as good for Italian but that was years ago. Best bet is to post in the discussion boards at www.chowhound.com - you're almost certain to get some useful info. Utica should have some excellent pizza.

Chesterfield on Bleecker Street (Italian done very well) Georgios in new hartford, Trackside Tavern (next to the train station), Grimaldis is the old favorite, Bela Cusina in New hartford, Bela Mia in North Utica (Cheap with huge portions)..the best Pizza in town O'Scugnizzios (sp) on Bleecker..the cheese is under the sauce...so popular they do a huge mail order business! No shortage of Italian Restaurants in this town, with a huge Italian American population..if its been around for more than a couple of years..its good..uticans are amazingly
food/restaurant savy...other really popular area restaurants..Symeons in Yorkville (hottest spot in town for Greek), Cafe Canoli for lunch and pastries, Florentine Pastry Shop, Cafe Caruso...the list goes on and on..
gotta try "Chicken Riggies" and "Greens"...Utica two signature dishes!..they are on every menu!

johnnieb covers all the spots well. The only place I'd add is Joey's on Mohawk Street.

Along with riggies and greens, don't forget to grab some tomato pie from Tony's at the corner of Bleecker and Culver, "pusties" from the Florentine (Bleecker) and half-moons and jelly donuts from Holland Farms (Oriskany Blvd. in Yorkville).
