Utah- Park/Trail Map of Escalante
Does anyone know if there are Park/Trail maps that are given out for Escalante National Monument? We are used to getting a map from a visitor center but don't think there are any here....or am I incorrect?

Check this site:
https://www.visitutah.com/places-to-...gaAjIfEALw_wcB This is a HUGE area and you won't find trail maps for the whole area in one map, but there are USGS maps that show them if you know what quadrant you want to hike in. |
I like to use the mobile phone app AllTrails when hiking. You can create a basic account (free) and search using a computer, then download maps to your phone for offline use.

Visitor centers are in Kanab, Escalante, Cannonville and Big Water.

Looks like Nat Geo has one that you can purchase, probably at the visitor center. I have the Gaia App mentioned on this page so I might have the map on my phone, but I'd still carry the printed one.

There are multiple visitors centers. If you're coming from Bryce, the closest is the one in Cannonville and then Escalante. Ask about road conditions as well. Here's a recent thread on Grand Staircase Escalante https://www.fodors.com/community/uni...walks-1662105/

Thanks, everyone! Very helpful
we are driving from Bryce to Escalante. Looks like Cannonville and Escalante will be a place to find the visitor center. thanks again! |
There are many books on Escalante monument that is a massive area.
Go to Amazon and search for: Escalante My favorite: South Escalante near Kanab is The Wave (need permit - only 20 per day given - 10 via internet) North Escalante near the town of Escalante: Peek-A-Boo Also north at Escalante is a very historic Mormon pioneer route called Hole In the Rock - high clearance vehicle is recommended. For history of that route: Internet search Mormon Hole In The Rock trail vaga |
